Detachable tow bar. November 2017 Octavia 1.5 TSi ACT DG

Featured Replies

Hi folks. Upon removing the hook from the tow bar today I find that the top of the push button and consequently the lock cover have fallen off during the journey. Can anyone shed any light on where replacements can be found. I think the tow bar is a Westfalia but am not sure and there is nothing like it on their website.

Hi , have you got full picture, looks a bit like factory fit, but difficult to tell from that picture.

It is a factory fitted, in November 2017.

Does this diagram of parts help?

This is very useful thanks. It looks like I need 33 as I assume 34 is the lock. Unless the cover comes with 34 and the push button comes with 33 of course.

May I ask where this diagram comes from and/or can you post a link or PM me a link to it?

Put these numbers into Google, and hopefully they match up with what you lost on the road.

Diagrams are from ETKA, they need a monthly subscription

Partslink24 is an online catalog, also a monthly subscription

Those part numbers are really helpful. I had to drill the lock out of a stuck towbar last summer and didn't know you could get a replacement lever.

For me the lever was jammed and wouldn't spring back and show the towbar was fully attached. Sadly the next day it freed itself upd after the wd40 had smoked into the mechanism 🤨

cheers

Thanks everybody for the information.

I think the best part of 50 quid is ever so slightly more than I am prepared to pay for a couple of small pieces of plastic.

The button is still pushable without its red top and duck tape can keep the lock clean.
