Panoramic sunroof leaking

Featured Replies

My 2014 VRS diesel estate with panoramic sunroof in the last 2 years has failed twice with serious leaks.

Skoda in Aylesford first worked on the car which cost £720 in 2019..the 4 drain tubes in the pillars were blocked and cleaned out.

On December 20th 2022 they again cleared the tubes at a cost of another £600 but 3 weeks later it is leaking still

They are working on the problem again and phoned me today stating it requires more investigation and the roof lining needs to be removed at a further 1 hrs labour.

Apart from the horrendous costs which seem to me quite unreasonable to fix this problem, has anyone had the same trouble and how was it resolved and at what cost.?    Any advice.? Many thanks

Is a common problem. The last post in the above link mentions a sunroof specialist in Surrey.

I have a pano roof (which has not yet leaked) but have researched in preparation. Sadly there are many threads on this site, see the Yeti forum. More widely suggest you look at all the VAG sites and other car makers. It seems to be very common.

Hi Tomwb

I am currently going through this very annoying saga with my pano roof. It's booked in for a removal, strip down and re-bonding next month. As you may have read in the other thread my costs have been minimal to date (one hour of labour to investigate and force close the roof), but the work in February will be a quite expensive, but that's the price of many years experience and a great deal of knowledge.

I hope your issue is resolved swiftly.

All the best

Thanks Rob, yes main dealer labour is expensive for sure  having spent £1300 in the last 2 years and still not had a resolution with another bill due soon!  It's a lovely accessory initially but doubt I would go for another one now

I hate to say this but mine has never  leaked despite living in Snowdonia. No doubt it will start now but I do clean the drains every year.

It has started to not close the last few mm, I did not want to clean and service the runners till it warms up a bit. I found out in the manual that you can overrun the safety system by tilting (front to back) the operating knob in the roof console.
