Home charging point that can assist in billing?

Featured Replies

I have been tasked with finding out if there is a home charging point that can assist with billing for a company car driver.

Do you know of one or an alternative way for this to happen?

It seems like 'away' charging will be easy enough to account for but as private mileage is charged at 'whatever rate is decided' then the cost of charging and using needs to be separate.

My Wallbox Pulsar Plus reports all charges back to the Wallbox server if connected to wi-fi. I can access this data via an app on my phone or an internet portal. This data can be downloaded to a CSV file if required. I would imagine most smart chargers have a similar capability. Does this help at all?

EDIT: I can set various costs per kWh in the Wallbox so each charge has a cost associated with it. As I'm on a fixed rate that just means one rate for all charges, but looks like I can set time of use rates too. Accounting for VAT would have to be done as part of the expense claim as the Wallbox does not allow for that. If reimbursement is a flat rate per kWh, then all you need is the power charged regardless of cost?

I've just had a play in the online portal. If your company is providing the chargers you could connect them all to a single company account and see each user's use directly. Access can be controlled via RFID card or even face recognition on some models. It gives all kinds of options for setting up an 'organisation' and each charger can have it's own rate set to account for whatever the user is charged for leccy. It seems quite comprehensive. Take a look here to start with https://wallbox.com/en_uk/mywallbox

Ta for that but without having checked the hyperlink, I feel it might be overkill. This is purely for one person to use at home and to have an easy way of billing for what electricity is used.

Not too sure who will provide or pay for the charger but all this is just on behalf of someone who's on the EV brink and they've just asked for advice.

Oops!

Just realised that I missed your first post!

What charger do you have?

Wallbox Pulsar Plus. One person can set their rate and download charging data to a CSV. They can then remove any private charges, friends charging etc in Excel before using the resulting sheet as evidence for claim. Like I said earlier, most smart chargers will offer similar.

HTH

Are you trying to have the company pay for an electric “fuel card” then have them charged the miles?

I can see this causing a few headaches as on the one hand it’s Xp per mile, but on the other the staff member is paying for the fuel.

Would it not be easier to flip the fuelling so the user pays all and you pay Xp per mile to them at the govt fuel allowance rate?

I think it's currently a case of the company paying for all fuel and private mileage gets charged at the prevailing rate - hence presuming that would continue going forward.
