DSG7 in my 2015 (54 reg) Rapid is that wet or dry clutch?

Featured Replies

Can someone kindly give me the definitive answer (i have searched but get conflicting answers from different sources). Mine is a 1.4TSi CAXA engine. Apologies in advance if this qualifies as a dumb question.

It should be a DQ200, which is a 7-Speed dry clutch system.

The only definite way to know for 100% is to get either the list of your build codes (PR Codes) from dealer or Skoda UK webchat, or physically inspect the code stamped on geabox.

Thank you. Following that to its logical conclusion (?) - not oil change needed at 40k then?

Re the edited comment (vroom) the code matrix in "service book" doesn't tell me (following decoding)  - will try the other things you said - thank you.

I would ask @toot as he probably has a maintence chart for more than just the gearbox available.

Thank you. First I'll work out which one I have!

You might find a printed sticker in the boot of the car, or sometimes in the service book there might be the white label with engine code and gearbox codes (that list is not a full build sheet though, but a few helpful ones)

Thank you. Nothing in boot and I think I've decoded what's in the book and not finding anything there. Will carry on!

It is a DQ200 7 speed dry twin clutch DSG as standard on a 250 Nm or less FWD VW Group Petrol or diesel less than a 2.0 lt.   (as long as it is not a Hybrid, then it can be a 6 speed wet.)

@NeilMHwhere did you find conflicting answers to that?

Thank you. The answer may not surprise you.....When I was asking my local dealer about the car's service history/any recalls etc they said I could wait till 40k to have the DSG oil change. If it didn't need an oil change I guess I would have expected the answer "you won't need one sir".....assuming a dry clutch gearbox doesn't need one (he said naively)?!
