Tips for replacing wing mirror please

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hoping you can help me work out how best (i.e. cheapest) way of replacing either the whole, or part of, my nearside wing mirror which, if you can believe this, was flown into yesterday by a duck !  Said duck is dead.  We've only had the car a little while so don't really want to be spending loads.  Is there a second hand parts/scrap market online somewhere that might keep the part cost down, and then I get a trusted garage near me to fix ?  Will look into insurance too.  What's the ballpark cost for going brand new, and fitted by a Skoda dealer ?  Thanks in advance 🙂

It's a 2018 model.  I couldn't work out how to insert the photos in the stream of the post, sorry.

I have some electrics gone from the side mirror (corrosion), needs replacement of a whole unit, and the dealreship quoted me 600 euros for it.

The electrics are still present, and I have the cap still.  Thinking it's just bezel and mirror (and holding unit) that are needed.

A. I’d try a breaker first of all for a complete unit.

B. consider working out how few new parts are needed and order from dealer. Any competent body shop could swap out a mirror, complete with a lick of paint.
