Fuel Injector problem

Featured Replies

Octavia Mk 3 SE TDI 19 reg 20K miles 1 litre engine

The engine suddenly started running rich in one of the cylinders, the EMC light came on and the car went into limp-home mode. All coils and all spark plugs changed (one was black), but still no joy. The problem seems to be in the injection: either the injector or the software controlling it. Before I take it in to a dealer for what I imagine will end up in a large bill, has anyone else had this problem and if so how was it resolved?

If you have the 1 litre engine, your car will be petrol and not diesel.  I have a 68 plate Octavia with this engine and the fuel injectors were replaced by my local Skoda dealer due to a recall.  Whatever the problem was, it may be the cause of your fault.  I didn't have any injector problems with my car before or after the recall though.

Very very unlikely to be a software glitch.

Thanks, both.

@nbranwel Do you remember approximately when your recall happened?

I think the recall happened late 2020 or early 2021.  There is an internet site which lists all recalls but I don't know what it is called.  Someone on  here might know though.  I was a bit surprised why Skoda decided to change the injectors as my car was working fine.  It has been fine since as well.

Thanks for your help @nbranwel. There's nothing listed on the Skoda site or the government site about a recall so either it affected a small number of engines, all of which were located and fixed, or, possibly, it was something your local dealer picked up on and fixed under a warranty.
