Turbo Woes - help!

Featured Replies

Hi,

2013 MkIII VRS TSI Estate 108k

Timeline:

- January 2022 (98k) turbo goes and replacement turbo installed.

- September 2022 (104k). Timing chain has stretched and needed replaced along with camshaft which had a rattle.

- December 2022 (107k) fuel injector goes on one cylinder. Fixed.

- Yesterday (108k), turbo goes again at 70mph on motorway. Same EPG warning every time turbo tries to engage.

If the turbo was new in Feb 2022 then surely it should not be dying now? Do the turbos have serial numbers to check manufactor date?

Sorry Im a total noob.

Thanks in advance

On the serial plate there maybe a manufacture date. But it is probably not that relelevant.

Of course, it should last longer than 1 year. I wonder if the cause of the original was identified? As you could be repeating the prior fault.

If there is a oil supply fault or oil contamination issue or restricted oil feed pipe. It will keep failing.

Who replaced it. Have you been back. What do they say as to cause?

What is your oil and filter change regime?

Who did the work, and what kind or warranty came on the parts, and the work carried out?

March 2022.

Hi, thanks for replies.

Deutsche Tek in Glasgow.

Not sure on warranty on the turbo. They replaced the injector last month for half price given the extended issues with the car.

They changed the oil and filters 3 weeks ago!

My tale of woe from a couple of years ago, in case there's something else going on:

I have spent >£5k in last year on repairs and can't face another for a car that is barely worth that.

I am electric from September in any case.

Sad times, and bad time to dunk so much cash.
