vRS roof rack for bike/roof box - scratched rails?

Featured Replies

Hi, simple and probably stupid question. Just got my vRS estate, with lovely black roof rails running along the length of the roof. Question then - if I fit a roof rack, these are getting scratched right? Surely they thought of this? Really can't see how they fit without ruining the look of the rails but maybe I am completely wrong - hope so! Any pics of any fitted much appreciated if there's a way of fitting them without damaging the rail finish.

Thanks in advance! Alan

Don't worry about it and use the car. I've got a few scratches on mine but they're still black. Think you'd have to be really deep to see silver and them look bad.

I rented a roof box for a week last May. No issues with scratches or any other damage, even though the car wasn't super clean, when they mounted the bars. The bar mounts themselves have a soft rubber-type padding that keeps the paint from getting scratched.

I had bicycles on the roof. Cleaned the roof racks and the soft rubber end on the Original Škoda bars and anyway after I took them off, I can find some small scratches.. But whatever, its a car to be used... If it get worse, I think simple onestep polish shoud be ok for not much money before sale.
