We were stopping in Dingwall and it was 80+ IIRC in that area if not Dingwall itself, all so long ago I forget exact details (I'd probably forget even if it was last year too).

We were stopping at a B&B and had a family room with IIRC  2 or 3 double beds and singles all to e two of us and very unusually  booked in for a second night instead of moving on.  At the time Dingwall was one of the few places around that served good real ale (at an hotel with loads of whiskeys too but that's another story, not that drink whiskey usually).

The cars I have owned with aircon it was never off, summer or winter.

if its that cold outside how do you know the air con is working or its just dragging in freezing air...thats the thing

@nta16that would have been double the record temp recorded in the UK which was in 2022.

Sorry, I miss-read, i take it you mean the interior got to that temp.

Dingwall would be the place for a choice of Irish Whiskey or Scottish Whisky.

@markbsacThe AC will not be working at 4*oC or with some cars @ 2*oC or above as it is inhibited, so it will not be working in freezing weather.

If it's too cold then it won't work but on a sunny afternoon it should be up near ten degrees ambient so you can set the blower full cold blowing from the dash vents, then switch on the Aircon and the blown air should get noticeably colder.

From the 05.11 Owner's Manual. -

I always left it switched to Auto, irrespective of the weather. I do the same with the Climatronic system. If you don't run it the seals dry out and you lose the charge.

I cannot remember the last time I opened a car window. Very few times since they did away with the Forth Bridge toll booths.

Not necessary on these units, they're permanently driven and the system is constantly circulating the gas and PAG lube.

Got the system re-gassed today. They told me there are no leaks and the air is now coming out at 4°C.
