My brake lights do not come on when the pedal is pressed. The hazards don’t work either. The fuses and switches and the pedal have all been checked by a mechanic, a one-man band type typical of what we find here in Bulgaria, which presumably leaves the wiring. Where in my 1.3LXI will I find the elusive wire?

Have you checked the wires-plugs at the rear? Sometimes they unpluged a bit-corrosion etc.
