You may need to supply your VIN so have it ready.

@pab567 This person is asking for a hardware upgrade if you have a moment.

EDIT: As if by magic you appear.

@Nile6661 possible, requires exchange of glove box unit, display unit, USB and, if you have CANTON sound system, also power amplifier. Pls share your VIN for details.

Must have posted at same time again 🤝

Hi @pab567 !
Thank you for reaching out.
I don't have canton and i tried to upgrade using the Alpine i902D-oc3 but couldn't manage to get all my car features to work just carplay worked so i had to return it.
VIN

Confirmed - you have Amundsen MIB1 unit 5E0035864m display unit 5E0919605D, USB port 5Q0035726B and fortunately no CANTON sound system.

You can install one of four different glove box units:
- MIB2 Bolero
- MIB2 Amundsen
- MIB2 Columbus
- MIB2.5 Columbus

You also need to replace display unit:
- for MIB2 Bolero you can use either 6.5" model number 5E0919605H or 8" model number 5E0919605N
- for MIB2 Amundsen and MIB2 Columbus you can use listed above display as well as 6.5" model number 5E0919605J, 8" model number 5E0919606, 8" model number 5E0919605M
- for MIB2.5 Columbus the only display unit that works is 5E0919606D

The price range is from 385 EUR (Bolero + 6.5" screen + USB) up to 1050 EUR (Columbus MIB2.5 + 9.2" screen + USB ). Shipping not included (approx 25 EUR).

The question is what is your budget and which of listed below features are "must have":
1. Video playback from DVD, USB, SD
2. CD playback
3. OEM navigation
4. displaying OEM maps na Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display).

Wow , Thanks for the info @pab567.
My only requirement is to use
Carplay ( for Navigation and Music through Phone ) - Wired / Wireless
Little bigger screen 6.5" or 8" would be enough  ( CD playback would be great to have )
------
Extra would also like to add an OBD display (Small size / Single gauge - any suggestions would be great

Would this be a good fit 385 EUR (Bolero + 6.5" screen + USB)

If you woul dlike to have CD playback then you either have to switch to Columbus (MIB2 or MIB2.5) or VW / SEAT unit, equivalent to Bolero, as they are equipped with CD drive.

What is the information you want to display on OBG gauge?

Something like this for OBD display and MIB2 Columbus + 8" model number 5E0919605M would be a ideal for me also i am thinking of upgrading my steering to flatbottom

@pab567
How much will it cost for
MIB2 Columbus + 8" model number 5E0919605M +USB for carplay ?

Approx. 950 EUR

This is way above my budget for now , do i still have another cheaper option available @pab567?

385 EUR + shipping for Bolero + 6.5" screen + USB

500 EUR + shipping for Amundsen + 6.5" screen + USB

670 EUR + shipping for Amundsen + 9" pre-lift screen 5E0919606 + USB

In MIB2 units you can have Performance Monitor / Sport menu unlocked, depending on your ECU it can display water temperature, oil temperature, boost and some other gauges (3 gauges per screen).

Hi @pab567,

Keen to avoid starting another new thread on this but as the proud owenr of a 2015 Octavia Scount I think I am in the same boat as Nile 6661. My hardware number is different but do the options you have covered above apply to me as well? Thanks in advance for your help.

Features wise I am mostly lookingn to get a large screen and ability to carplay / android auto.

Budget option for carplay...

Thanks for sharing this. I did see another post with this and have as a solid plan B.

Ideally would go OEM as keen to get the screen to be a big bigger and clearer as I have the old 5.8” version.

Was also looking today @Scout-MKIII and realise I have the AMI not an aux port so do you know if I will also need to code that for this to work? Thanks again.

You'd have to ask the person who did the video. I have not done this myself, so it's just something I might consider.

@austin986 you have MIB1 unit which has low resultion (400*240) display unit. ALthough I have seen some AA/CP modules that can work with such resultion nut trust me - it's not a good idea. I suugest retrofit with MIB2 unit, both glove box and siplay, and in your case also Media In to be replaced with USB

Hi @pab567, thanks for the recommendation, I have seen a couple others that tried and as you say only really works on the larger screens. What is the best way I can go about sourcing the MIB2 units? Is there a way to get them without CP so I can plug and play or do I need to find a local place to code them to the car? Another person did share a link to a head until instead of just the module that does seem to still retain some of the cars original functionality but not sure how reliable these are.

Always a bit tricky with certain car stuff living in the middle of the alps...Thanks again for the help, very much appreciated.

I can deliver a complete set, pls share your VIN in PM.
