Change mirror caps

Hi has any body changed the mirror caps on a mk4 octavia?

I've got the mirror glass out and moved the retaining clips but it just won't budge like the mk3 mirror caps.

Is there another method for the mk4?

So after a big fight with the car and one broken mirror glass I finally got the caps changed.

There is more squeezing involved than pulling.

Hi, why did you want to change the mirror caps?  If to improve the looks any chance of a photo?

Do you have any advice on doing this? I'm looking to change the white caps i have to black.

 

Do i need to remove the glass first? (i hope not). I tried to find a video online (or instructions) but could not find anything.

Hi to be honest best way is the remove the glass but it's hard to do.

 

What I did was there is 3 plastic clips behind the mirror that I broke with a screw driver but even at that still have to fight to get it off.
