Dear all

I've just fitted a new motor to the passenger side window on a 2006 skoda fabia 1.  No motor noise.

I've not managed to find a wiring diagram but on the assumption that the wiring goes from the passenger side switch to the drivers side controls and then onwards, I have replaced the drivers side controls too (they were quite ropey).  

No joy.

before declaring this new motor as dead, I'd like to check the obvious culprits which means doing some checks for voltage and signals.  Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the windows on a Fabia 1 and the pinout of the plug going into the motor?

The only connection between the two is the LIN data wire which goes from pin 3 of each 8 way to the other, and nowhere else.

driver's side window is pukka. 

I've got your word document from a past post (attached) but I am not sure I have the same units as, for example, the driver's side switch control unit has only one connector (a beige coloured thing).  See the photos here

Sadly that's a pre-facelift motor module you've acquired, and won't play nicely in your car.  You need 6Y2959801.  

I may have one...

aha!  the penny drops!  

I wonder what the wiring difference is?  although an idle wondering as I don't have access to an electronics bench here to do any testing.  I could repin the connector if that is the only issue ...  

 

but i'd happily buy a the correct window motor off your hands so that I can close the door back up before I leave blighty!

Major differences, pre-facelift are CAN, for starters.

As per PM, I haven't found a match for what you need, unfortunately.  If I think hard about it I may be able to build one out of bits and pieces of others; that has the right chirality and function. The thinking hard bit of that intimidates me a bit though.

I've found one on fleabay that should be delivered by Tuesday.   Loony prices though!
