Is there a button to accept Downloads? and How do I get rid of phones on my system.

Featured Replies

As soon as I have started to drive over this last week, I get a notification about a software update which I cannot download while driving. I sat in the car today, ignition on, and waited for

the download/instructions ..... Nothing! I am too old to bugger about with this, what am I missing?

I updated my phone, (an android v13 is that significant?) but my system only offers me my old android phone and a mysterious "Tom's i-Phone" how do I get rid of the old phones, please.

I also need to install the newer version of Android Auto,

Is there no end to this high tech. torture?

Edited by gumdrop

Android auto is, as I understand it, not a separate app now, it's part of the android system so is updated when your phone updates. Old phones are deleted via the phones menu on your infotainment screen. No idea about the download issue as not faced it yet.

Thank you very much, with my first phone I just got into the car and it wirelessly connected, no need of the cable shenanigans.

I will sidle up to Monte and brandish my phone!

Torture?  Nothing stopping you going back to the days of a single speaker and 6 preset buttons on MW 🤣.

I don't have a Kamiq so may be talking out of my ar5e , but having the latest system on a Kodiaq, I'm sure they both work in similar ways.

At the top centre of the screen there is a pull down tab which reveals a quick access menu (  see the owners manual if you're having trouble accessing it )

There will be a further two tabs at the bottom of this, the one you want is labelled  'notifications'. You can see the pending update in notifications - just press it and it'll download ( as long as the engine isn't running i.e. it thinks your driving the car ).

Thank you, I can remember seeing a glowing tab, as you describe, I will sally forth in the morn and have at it😁

Any updates just press ok then drive as normal it downloads in the background while you are driving because you are on the download screen it says cannot do this while driving but it does its a safety feature to stop you looking while it downloads just go onto what you normally have on like radio. There's a circle top right with numbers in comes up that is notifications drag screen from top down tap notifications tab that's how many downloads there is. To check if downloaded go into notifications

Press phone then settings delete from there or main settings press phone. S22 and S23 Samsung are not compatible if you have one. The system is more for Apple iphones

Obviously different to Kodiaq MIB3 systems then because the download doesn't work if you press OK whilst driving. What happens is the next time you drive the car the same 'Software update' msg appears. Only way to action the request is either a) via the menu as described above or b) if you come to a stop ( for example at traffic lights ) and engine stop/start kicks in, throw the DSG lever in P and that tricks the download system in to thinking you're no longer driving. You then see the timebar/clock on screen indicating the download taking place.

I have found out why it comes up with that message I got part of it wrong must apologise me thinking it does it in the back ground when driving it doesn’t. What I do if there’s an update I press ok with engine running  set off l get the message so I put navigation screen on so I don’t see the message again. That’s my mistake because here’s the answer

Over-the-Air Update

Functional restrictions

Škoda Connect

Over-the-Air Updates are sent to the vehicle via Škoda Connect: Online System Update service. An Over-the air Update can be delivered to the vehicle only if:

• The vehicle has a primary user, in which case the vehicle is visible in MyŠkoda for the primary user and primary user is visible in the vehicle (Menu -> Users).

Online Mode is enabled (ON) in the privacy settings (Menu -> Users -> Settings).

Locking

The vehicle cannot be driven.

The user must leave the vehicle and lock it for the installation to start:

• If the vehicle is not locked within ten minutes of the Install button being pressed, the update will not be completed.
• If the vehicle is reapproached and unlocked, it must be locked again within two minutes, otherwise the update will not be completed. The same applies if the function automatically unlocking the vehicle when the key is detected approaching is enabled.

Sometimes only confusing if you ask via forums rather than read the information from Skoda

I have owned several Skoda but always find the All Model and Spec. owners hand books confusing.

This Superb (see what I did there) site has members overflowing with information and expertise and

beat the technical handbook writers hands down!!

As it says press ok to download drive to work or where it’s going to park or press ok to download on your drive leave car lock it it then download will be download as long as you don’t open the car. If you do open the car it saves what it’s down loaded will continue once locked some updates are 8gb or more so can take hours when the green circle on the top left is full it’s completed When it’s downloaded it says installing. It even says all this in the kamiq owners manual under online system updates

The least said about information from Skoda the better. 'Lost in translation' is probably the kindest way of describing it.

I'll give you the perfect example from above...

That has nothing to do with the original question. In order for the intallation to begin, the software must first be downloaded. It's the 'downloading' part of the operation the OP was asking and, by all means correct me if I'm wrong, there is little or no information about it. If that's how the system installs the software afterwards then it's mildy interesting but something we don't need to know. All I know is that whilst driving, I receive a message on screen to say the operation is complete.

I don't know this for fact but if my experience is anything to go by,  both dealers or Skoda helpline are unlikely to be of any help to the OP's question. The best you can hope for is being told it's done 'over-the-air'.

Sometimes forums are the quickest way to gain information. The only confusion comes when the 'armchair experts' gets involved - i.e. someone making out they know what they're talking about but have no experience. They then start correcting people who do have practical experience.

I can definately comfirm this is not the case.  Samsung phones, including the S23 are definately compatible.  Hence Android Auto as well as Apple Carplay (for Apple Iphones)

My phone connected, hooray!

Download, downloaded, hooray!

Two unwanted Phones in the menu, STILL there. I resorted to you-tube but the Skodas

there had different infotainment set ups.

I have no idea what my infotainment system is but none of the screens look like these. Thanks for trying.

They are photos I took out of the owners manual they are not on your screen  just follow the instructions. What spec of car do you have do you have knobs or just a flat screen on your informant. It’s the Bluetooth you get rid of not the phone. Delete the Bluetooth connected to the phone it deletes the phone.
try the steps in the photos starting with the first then work down
