Just swapping my columbus for one out of another superb as mine has broken,how do I get the code no

2. Why swapping, not repairing?

3. You should get code from seller or find someone locally who can ready the code either based on unit serial number or by physical connection to the unit.

Cd player broken and I took it out having another radio given me and hope cd player in it will fit into mine 

Typicall laser lens just need to be clean (as long as mechanically the unit is OK).

On another issue, how do you find what version of software it's running anyway?

If you can burn a CD-R, then I can supply you the update or @pab567 but we do need to know what version of the firmware you have now.

You will be best if you can pop the head unit out and get a picture of the label on the top.
