Columbus, not so much great explorer…

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I bet you all heard this story a million times…….

Columbus head unit, stuck in German, tried usual reset’s, unsuccessful.

I checked out out the online German language course, don’t think that’s an option…

So need it fixing.

Also while it’s out, I would like DAB upgrade ( like to listen to test cricket, sad I know)

Anyone got any suggestions…  ( Mr Rusty Nuts, you out there…. You seem to the guy on this!)

Cheers everyone

Typical behavior of unit with full NAND - try reflash firmware, if doesn't help then NAND must be cleared either with sepcial software or desoldered and cleaned with the programmer. After clearing reflash with new firmware is required.

Adding DAB into the unit is not possible, yo either need new unit with DAB or external DAB receiver.

Thanks Pab,

Firmware, re-flash, all stuff I don’t understand,

I just need a recommendation of a person or company that can carry out this task…

Anybody.

RMR

We reloaded the firmware for this chap, and his German language was gone at the end, he could change to English afterwards.

You need to be able to find out what firmware is currently loaded, and then you also need to be able to burn a CD.  Then a firmware file can be sent for you to try and load.

If that fails, as mentioned by pab567, you will need someone to wipe the storage chip.

Menu's or pop it physically out and take a picture of label on the top.

Hi - new on here - I have a 2010 superb and I was considering updating the columbus - the alternative would be putting in a new double din - would updating the firmware on the columbus juice the maps on it?  Are there any live links to firmware/map downloads anywhere? Thanks in anticipation

Further to my last post, after some further research and consideration, I've replaced the RNS510 with an Xtrons unit. The original bluetooth module must be separate from the radio as its still trying to connect to my phone...
