Climate control Sync, work around.

Featured Replies

I have just found a work around for the climate Control turning it's self off sync everytime you stop the car.

If you just use the passenger controls instead of the drivers ones. It works exactly like sync?

Just thought I would share.

Yes, I've been using this work-around too. As my car is in the dealer this week I've asked them to look at the issue again. On the 72 plate Octavia SE I'm driving this week the SYNC feature is working fine and getting retained, and that vehicle is running 1898 software.

Hi James.

I am also running that software version.

I wonder if there is an OTE coming out for a fix?

I am more concerned about the whole unit shutting down constantly, and rebooting, seemingly every day after a few minutes.

It's embarrassing having passengers. Explaining it to them.

Can you keep me informed on any reply you receive.

Mike

I bet it is a long list...

Can I ask what's on it? See if we have similarities.

It was much longer, before they updated the software to 1898, lol...

Now it includes:

  1. Infotainment reboots randomly and I get park assist error (or something like this, need to take a photo)
  2. AC SYNC not kept on after restart
  3. ACC occasionally still thinks I'm in Europe, so hits the brakes, when overtaking
  4. Some hardware stuff:
  • armrest very hard to be fixed in raised position
  • foggy lights
  • window trim coming off

1 and 2 for me also.

The Infotainment being the biggest one.

My ACC was cured at last update.

I have auto hold hand  brake sticking on also 😂

It's a good job the engine and drivability is great otherwise it would be gone by now.

what's the issue with the auto hold?

do I have to mention, I had a warranty replacement of the gear selector lever? :D And still waiting for my engine cover replacement...

Auto hold stays on and won't release.

Dangerous tbh, it releases if you brake again and try and accelerate again.  but they can't find a fault or are it doesn't show up on testing.

Cover I have given up on 😂

There's always something with these cars...

I got my Octavia back from the dealer today, with the Climate Sync feature still not fixed. Apparently they've reported the issue to Skoda Technical and haven't had a response.  But because the dealer need their loan car back I've had to pick mine up, and book in again when Skoda Technical get back to them. I honestly give up at times with this car.

That's frustrating. Did they give you any timelines?

13th visit in a year for software issues to be not fixed or partially fixed. I’ve got an open case with the Executive Office, but that doesn’t seem to be getting any faster progress.

I’ve had my infotainment updated from 1896 to 1941 and still have the climate zone sync issue. It also unsyncronises if I use one of the smart climate options.

There's a separate software update that the Skoda dealers can apply which fixes the climate sync issue. My car had this applied a few weeks ago and SYNC works fine now.

My car is going back next week for the 1941 infotainment update to be applied (hopefully)

Do you have any further details on this update, such as ID or something similar, that can help pointing it out to the dealer?

I'm sorry I don't. All I was told was that I was one of the first customers to trial a new software update package which was designed to address a lot of the known issues with the car. They did comment the update to fix the climate sync did require a software update on the AC controller (which would make sense). The update did fix pretty much everything except the Infotainment crashing. it's back in today for them to hopefully fix the Infotainment, when I pick it up in the next day or so I will try and find out what update they applied to fix the climate sync issue, and if there's a specific number related to it.

I think I'm now on my 14th visit to the dealer for them to try and resolve all the software issues on my car.

Fingers crossed, mate!

I'm just done with the car now to be honest. I think I worked out that I'd driven 740 miles going back and forth to the dealer. Skoda UK just don't care either. Complete lack of interest. The Executive Office are just not interested.

Sorry to hear that... It's not just Skoda, unfortunately. I'm seeing the same attitude from pretty much everywhere - it's just ridiculous...

So based on this information control unit 08 needs to be updated. My air conditioning unit is on software version 0341.

You don’t happen to have OBD Eleven or VCDS to check the version of your module 08?

Apologies, but I don't have any tools to check the version on my car. It took a lot of complaining to get a fix applied to my car, to the point of me saying "can you please look at the 23 plate loan Octavia you have given me where climate sync holds, and my car where it doesn't". To be fair they did just that, and sent the comparison off to Skoda Technical.

I asked for more information from the dealer a few weeks ago as another forum member asked me for details. However, they said they were not allowed to provide details of the update applied, but that another Skoda dealer could look at the details of my car to see what work had been done. The only other comment about the update was that "it came direct from the factory".

Hi,

Sometimes I feel they have some many complains from customers that they can't make anything. So many issues with this infotainment and i can t accept that the one who made this software don t know how to fix it. I have Octavia Nx brand new delivered on 06Jan2021 and a lot of problems and only by now, with 1941 i dont have restarts of infotainemnt. But i still have, even more, sync lost on AC. From time to time i loose also volume settings( trebble , bass, etc). + start on guest and not the main account.. I would have come to your location just to scan Control Unit 08 and see the version, but probably you are not from Romania

Hello @R0Mario,

I'm living in Bucharest/Romania. What details do you need about Module 08? I can scan my car with OBD11 and provide you the details you are looking for.

Hi

Thank you, the idea was to see what software they have loaded on @JamesK's car for this fix so i can tell them exactly what to load. My car is running 0341 but this soft is not performing as it should..
