Climate control Sync, work around.

@R0Mario, Please find below the details of Module 08 from my car:

Bear in mind that I'm not suffering of the Climate Sync issues!

Maybe this will help you to ask the dealer for a software update to the above version!

PS: If you don't mind, are you fine to exchange our telephone numbers via PMs, to sync-up on dealers or other issues? Thx

Br.

I have just found a work around for the climate Control turning it's self off sync everytime you stop the car.

If you just use the passenger controls instead of the drivers ones. It works exactly like sync?

Just thought I would share.

Good tip! This all relates back to the software not being properly designed for the UK market and RHD cars. In a LHD car the passenger controls would be the drivers controls and therefore the 'master'. See also: the sat nav only working in km.

Hi

Thank you, the idea was to see what software they have loaded on @JamesK's car for this fix so i can tell them exactly what to load. My car is running 0341 but this soft is not performing as it should..

I’ve got this issue and I’ve got the sync issue as I mentioned in my previous post.

I recently learned how to check the publicly available software updates via VAG-Flash Info.

Anyway, it appears there are a bunch of updates in the works from Škoda.

https://vag-flashinfo.de/site/index?partno=5WA907727

it seems that 0462 is the latest version released as recently as September.

From what I understand the dealer won’t be able to perform the update unless Škoda issues a TPI. Then they get a code issued from Software Version Management to perform the update in ODIS. I may not be entire correct on this though.

The frustration here is that I think it's safe to assume that most early Octavias are all suffering from this issue. Some people won't have noticed, some won't care, and others are using the left side control to use climate sync. So, if they know it's a problem why not just push it OTA rather than waiting for customers to book a service visit for it? When you book a visit the car then has to be investigated, details sent off to Skoda Technical, and the dealer wait for a resolution to come back. All this is just wasting the customer and dealers time... when they could push the update OTA and save everyone time.

Great news! I finally got the dealer to update the climatronic module from 0341 to 0531 my hardware revision is 5WA907727P.

Aside from working as it should, the menu appears to be a lot more responsive and the same for animations - e.g between menus within the Clima menu.

Excellent news. Did you have to really push them to perform the update, or was it something they are now updating as standard?

Yes, it was painful.

It took me demonstrating the issue to two or three staff before they even understood the issue. Then they tried updating the multimedia unit. Despite repeatedly telling them it was the climatronic. After two visits, then yes they updated the software to 0531.

here is a screenshot of the current info:

I believe the software number can be used as a part number in ODIS to download the file. Some TPIs reference part numbers for software. But I could be completely wrong.

I think the issue with this is that it's never officially been recognised by Skoda as being a problem. It's not helped by it only affecting right hand drive cars.

It took for me to take a video of the behaviour of my car, and another video of a 2022 Octavia I had as a loan vehicle, where the climate sync function worked correctly for the dealer to truly understand the problem. Even then I was told the update had "come direct from the factory".

I'm not sure why Skoda are not acknowledging the issue formally, as it very clearly is a problem, even if it is only a minor one with a workaround. I know of dealers that are adamant that this is how the unit is intended to function and therefore not a problem.

I had my car (21-plate vRS estate) serviced recently and specifically requested updating the climate control module from 0341 to 0531. The master technician at the dealer called me to confirm this, as (in his words) the official release information from Skoda did not say anything about fixing the SYNC issue. So, I think JamesK is right in saying that it was not officially recognised by Skoda as being a problem... But now it works fine.

@aaaaplay I have sent you a direct DM regarding this.

I will send this pic to my dealer hopefully prompting them to finally update it. Was there anything else you had to do to get them to update it.

my dealer is refusing to do any update as their system says it is upto date. and showing them that this issue exist via video proof and other My carrs having the fix as well as other here with a My21 getting the fix and proof of their firmware showing the new fersion is not working 😕

I would escalate to the Skoda UK Executive Office. This is a typical example of dealer not carrying out any investigation. They've attached it to a computer which has returned saying no updates required. It's pretty much a "Computer says No" response.

It's saying no updates are required because Skoda have never acknowledged the issue here. The reality here is that Skoda need to acknowledge the problem and issue a TPI. I guess I was lucky because my dealer acknowledged it wasn't the correct behaviour, especially when compared to 2022 Octavia which worked correctly.

I am in Aus and i emailed the AU office and they are just like talk to your dealer.  😕 and yes i think we need more people with My21 reporting the issue so a TPi can be created. i only got my audio issue fixed rectly after complaing about it for 3 years.

Is the dealer the only person that can access and install these updates? Or can independents who can update the cars like VW retrofit do this?

Some can source the updates for you. But ODIS access is expensive, so not a lot of independent do.

I’d be looking for a VAG specialist if you going outside of the dealer network.

Dealer managed to sort it with a firmware update.

Has anyone found a TPI relating to this update for the climate control "sync" issue? (of course my late 21 build has it 😂)

Yes Skoda support in Aus is frustrating to say the least! They simply don't want to admit to issues that they must know about, one dealer wanted to charge me $295 to look at a problem "if it turned out to be normal operation" despite it obviously not working (a voice control feature).  At the moment my voice control has just stopped working and I'm dreading the conversation 🙄.

There is no TPI that i am aware off. The original dealer i went to was useless. Their system did not have any notes or firmware updates so did nothing. And refused to raise the issue further. Even after sending video proof of other cars without the issue etc.

Finally found a dealer near me that i sent the same email and proof. They confirmed they had the "new" firmware but it did not mention any fix for my issue but was willing to apply the update for me to see of it will fix the issue.

They applied it for me and low and behold it fixed the issue and covered under the 7 year warranty i have with the car. I only go to this dealer now as they are willing to look and entertain genuine issues especially if you show them proof of fixes and issue. Like i had the car alarm randomly go off one day looking at same issue here it was pointed out it could be the lock. When i took it for normal service sent them proof of the fix others had done here etc and when they looked they confirmed that yes it was the same issue due to faulty lock and replaced under warranty.

The only outstanding thing i have is the infotainment system update. I am on 1941 but there is no newer official version that than for AUS at this stage.

Send me a dm i can check the email i sent my local dealer that got them to finally address the clima issue.

Easiest solution is to use voice control. Set the driver side and ask it to synchronise temperature.

I sent this tk the dealer: Update of the climate control module from 0341 to 0531. This should resolve the issue of the Climate SYNC feature not remaining on, when the engine is turned off.

Not sure ifnthis is what they did, but the issue is fixed.

Thanks for this Steve, an easy solution to a problem that shouldn't be there, you must have "RTFM" 😂

Real men don't RTFM!!! 🤣

To be honest I don't use the Sync feature, and very rarely have since I had a car with the capability, but when I saw people had the issue I just tried it with voice control - which I use for temperature, Air Care, radio, music, and heated seats. For some reason I can't get it to work reliably when setting a destination in the SatNav (Siri and Apple Maps is more reliable in that respect). But that is a topic for another thread...
