EML problem Skoda Superb 2018 2.0 diesel

Featured Replies

Skoda Superb LK 2018 ongoing EML problem , main dealer in Brockenhurst asked for £4300 for DPF EGR renew. Went to very reliable well known independent garage in Southampton. DPF EGR renewed £920 but EML doesn't go way . Back on again .went back , Autonater on exost changed but EML back again. Previously I also changed spark plug etc but this EML on dashboard never goes away. My independent garage said this is now permanent problem and he will push Skoda and VW group for Their faulty part. I will never ever touch VW group again. I drive this car as a taxi and first 100k miles was brilliant after that falling in pieces. I drove E class for 5 years without problem. My colleagues Toyota owners also very happy with their car.

Welcome.

Was that the glow plugs that were changed, because spark plugs replaced was never going to sort anything.

Was the main dealer in Brockenhurst having cashflow issues and thought you could help them out?

What makes the Independent think Skoda / VW UK will pay attention to anything they day or ask for on a car with over 100,000 miles?

Glow plugs are changed , spark plugs changed , Autonater sensor changed , DPF cleaned .

İndependent mechanic thinks that parts he got from Skoda VW is faulty. That's why . Car drivers fine but sometimes goes into limp mode I stop and start fine goes on again. I have checked a few main dealers online they are all terrible. Have got bad reviews. İt's a taxi high mileage but I have maintained highest standards possible. İt should still last me over 250k I believe

If they fitted spark plugs they are getting the wrong parts.

It should indeed last a long time used as a taxi or not.

The issue is a TDI & the DPF if used as a taxi with short cold starts or sitting idling lots rather than doing longer runs.

Mercedes were there doing the defeat devices on their cars which Skoda / VW had to stop doing by 2016 and Toyota are good as Taxis because they are what they are, Japanese.

I have seen a few other owners have had same problems. I have no idea what to do now , the car cost me a lot also it's Laurin Klement and still have finance on it. All the error codes came on this car fixed but EML is just keep coming on back. I can't pass council MOT like this , last two weeks I'm up and down to the mechanics with car spending my time there without making any fares 😕 I'm usually using this car for long runs such as airports so on the motorway most of the time.  İs there anyone can recommend something to do ?

Your car presumably is a diesel so will have glowplugs but not spark plugs.

What is "Autonater on exost" or "Autonater sensor"?

I am guessing you mean alternator and exhaust but the alternator will not be on the exhaust, it is the other side of the engine and to my knowledge does not have a sensor.

If your vehicle is showing an EML light then it will have a corresponding fault code logged, what does the garage say that it is? Without that information your postings are hard to interpret.

What parts does your mechanic think were supplied faulty?

Hello , sorry perhaps my bad English writing . İt's Exhaust Actuator last changed. (Before that DPF EGR) My garage thinks that's exhaust Actuator part faulty because same fault code is coming they said. Thank you for your response.

EGR valve? (Exhaust gas recirculation valve)

Maybe a sticking actuator mechanism on the EGR?

EGR valve changed. "Exost Autonater"

Sounds more like they aren’t able to diagnose the car properly and instead are loading up the parts cannon.

the exhaust back pressure valve is just a throttle body in the exhaust to aid with dpf regen, did they fit a genuine part?

chances of it being faulty are slim (but not 0) so really I’d be getting an auto electrical to check things over properly.

(also hope you haven’t been charged for spark plugs as you have a diesel and there is no need for a spark of any kind, compression ignition, not spark ignition.)

The thing that would provide the clarity of this issue would be what is the fault code that has been stored which causes your EML to illuminate. Ring Meadens or your local independent and ask them and then post it here, without it then it’s pure guesswork.

I am pretty confident that one of the fault codes will be Engine - SCR NOX Catalyst Efficiency below Threshold P20EE00.

Want to manage your expectations and say if it’s the above fault then the only sure fire way of removing the light is doing a DPR delete.

^^^

Is that a DPF delete?

Of a car used as a Taxi / Private hire car.  Lovely for the 'annual or 6 monthly check depending on the Local Authority area, and the car owners insurance of that vehicle with this undeclared / illegal modification.

Why has the text got to be so large? :D

It is pure guess work without a fault so guessing there is a SCR Efficiency fault code then telling them to delete the DPF (which is not at all related to the function of the SCR Cat or any NOx trap system) is not only illegal but just covers up any underlying fault rather than actually resolving it.

I wonder if "Autonater sensor" should be O2 sensor.
