reverse camera washer?

Featured Replies

Anyone know of a retrofit washer for the reverse camera on a wagon/estate?

My 15 Scout gets the camera super dirty and then it's basically useless.

I can see why it got added to the MkIV...

Funny you ask - I’ll actually be removing my genuine camera shortly with lens washer setup and this could be transferred over to your vehicle.

(Nothing wrong with it just upgrading to a different tailgate)

EDIT: Ah you’re in Australia, if you wanted to drop me a PM I can supply the part numbers required to carry it out yourself including modifying your current camera (involves drilling a small hole)

So you've done some kind of mod to do this ? any pics?

And how does it work? TBH, I'd be happy if it squirted every time I washed the rear window, so just teeing into the water line and routing an extension. But open to ideas.

I wonder if it'd be less of a problem if I had mudflaps, but Scouts are the only model that they're not available for. Skoda could've just moulded them into the plastic add ons, but that'd be "simply clever"

Yes it is the same as how it works on most VW/Audi/Skoda cars where when you wash the rear window it also washes the rear camera lens.

Where is your rear window washer, is it in the wiper arm going up or coming down from the centre rear brake light?

It's in the rear brake light.

Then you will want the following 2 parts;

565955663J Hose

5TA955993 Washer Jet for RVC

The hose has a T piece and connects at the rear washer jet and then runs down the side of the tailgate to the camera. The Washer jet requires a small 3-4mm hole drilling in the rubber part of the camera body (there is an obvious marking on the outside of the rubber), put the washer in from the rear and plug the hose in.

All sorted.

I probably should've been asking this kind of stuff when I was closer to the car, not away visiting family...

Do you have a pic of your setup as installed?

Sorry I don’t have any photos at all that would be helpful as didn’t take any when I was doing the work

A photo of how it looks now would be sufficient. Just curious how it looks, and how that nozzle is held in position.

Looking at a pic of the nozzle part in isolation is a bit deceptive for scale.
