Boot dimensions

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Looking at my first vRS however I have a rather large problem, I need to reguarly fit my XL Mountain bike in the boot. seats down aren't a problem but I'm wondering if it'll fit length and width wise. It's become such a problem in my current car (2018 Vitara) as the passenger seat has to be fully forward with the back seats obviously down so yeah, I'm basically asking for someone with a measuring tape to run out as all I can find online is the overall space in litre's which means less than nothing in terms of push iron haha

Cheers

Don’t have a mkIII Octavia boot to hand.

However when it does not fit, the superb is bigger. I can get my sonder Camino in the boot without wheels on, or with seats down, in with rear wheel on; stupid flared bar pushes on parcel shelf so is 90degrees to frame. Might not help.

it might go in upright/vertical in an estate form if you drop the seat/wheels off?

I think it will fit but the wife is adamant before I change car I check, I think the Superb is a bit too big for me and I quite fancy a nice 2.0 TSI vRS for the pop's and bangs between trails cause I'm a thirty something man child. I think my bike (Whyte E160 in XL) will be quite a fair sum larger than yours being a gravel bike with a steeper head angle and such.

I'm not against taking the front wheel off but I'm desperately trying to avoid faffing with the rear too.

Thanks for your input regardless though buddy

@C120XYWelcome to the forum.

You are going to be disappointed regarding pops and bangs.

to be fair that was a joke, It'll be nice to have an engine I can actually hear though for a change, the Vitara is nigh on silent unless you want it to actually move at which point it sounds like you are murdering it.

I put a Large 29er in my boot the other day with front wheel off. (Hatchback) but rear seats were down.

Pretty much fell in there.

I'm confident an XL would do the same.

Front passenger seat is quite far back and drivers is one click off max.

sounds perfect then,it's such a faff at the moment with the boot being just long enough. I don't wanna be the a$$hole taking a tape measure the dealership lol

I wouldn't worry about taking tape measure, your the one buying the car. I did with my previous car, as I needed to get certain size boxes to all fit in without putting seats down.

Not a vRS but my Octavia estate measures 1.84 metres to the  seat back in a usable position for a 178cm person.

'back seat' was arse about face

I was able to fit 2meter bed frames in my octavia hatch with passenger seat all the way front and back part as vertical as possible. That time I snug in there entire bed (taken appart) and also 200x160cm mattress (folded of course). So if you dont have passanger, about 2m is the limit, and about 50cm height if you want to close the boot (because of the rear window slope). With wagon you get the advantage of being able to fit higher items.

My previous vRS Estate (2015) would take my XL e-bike (29" wheels) complete, albeit with the back seats down and a little bit of settling to stop anything rubbing.  Laying down (of course) and diagonal, with the rear wheel by the back of the passenger seat, and the front wheel/handlebars over by the offside rear, tailgate closed.

I never did it, because I'm a lazy git, but I often thought taking the floor side pedal off the pedal arm would make it fit better.
