Android Auto, music app and Oppo X5

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I have owned my car for over a year, 2015 Skoda Octavia VRS with factory supplied Android Auto (wired) which worked absolutely fine with my previous Samsung S21.

I have recently upgraded to an Oppo X5 Find Pro, not an old phone but one coming to the end of its production (Oppo just announced the X6)

I can play music through Bluetooth absolutely fine however, the stock Music app on the Oppo does not show in Android Auto. Spotify does, but I don't use it (I'm a bit of a luddite)

If I use the phone to go to the Music app and play music, it will play through the in car entertainment as usual but I'll have no control over the song choice, skip, etc.

I have seen in 2019 there was an issue with Android Auto with music apps not showing and they advised with a temporary workaround of accessing developer mode, which I did but it did not give me any further options.

Android Auto is up to date and nothings updated on my car since.

Is this a case of the music app not being on a particular list or is it likely more a bug? Is there any other music app recommended?

Can I update the software from where it is? If I hit 'Update Software' will this do it wirelessly or do I need to download it from a portal somewhere?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

Doug

Press and hold the Menu/Setup button for 10 seconds.

This will enter you into the engineering menu, locate "Software Train" and post picture back.

Thanks for your reply. Is this on the Android Auto app or the phone software version? If in the app, whilst connected to the car?

It's for your car radio firmware, as you asked about updating it.

My guess was close then.

release = "MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3343"
MUVersion = "1433"

SupportedTrains = "MHI2_ER_SKG11_P2104*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_S2104*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_K2129*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_S2129*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_P3260*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_P3304*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_P3325*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3330*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3333*,MHI2_ER_SKG11_K3343*"

I will send you the above release, you will jump up quite a bit in version number (normal)
