How to open up a Door lock actuator

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to open up the actual mechanism. I have taken out all the casing screws and a retaining spring which is near the outer door handle side of the actuator. It's nearly wanting to come out but something stopping it from the inside.

Model number of the actuator is PA6.6 gf 30.

I'm wanting to open it up to replace a part from an old one I have to make into one working unit and will just be a spare.

Thanks

Ewan

It looks like the one I took apart with help from a YouTube video. Prob best to view that but take photos, there are a couple of springs that have to go back in the right place. The motor actuator housing comes away from the lock mechanism with a lever between the two. When bringing the two parts back together the lever has to be in the correct position to fit into the slot in the lock mechanism. I don't know what part you're replacing but in the three I've changed it seems to be wear and tear in the metal cam that drives the micro switch and in the plastic screw driven mechanism that operates the lock mechanism. I couldn't find exactly what had failed, just replaced the whole thing.

There are a couple of plastic ramp clips that have to be released to pull the two housings apart.

Thanks, Billwin.

I was going to say a few days ago that I got it open, I just opened up all the wee side screws, took of the spring on your 5th photo and open the 2 wee catches on the side and you can wiggle it out with a wee upp ward side way twist.

It was to replace the whole red mechanical bit in your 1st photo I was doing.

Also had 2 others I was going to make into one unit.

Thanks again

Ewan
