Jerky DSG.....

Featured Replies

I'm looking for some advice on the 7 speed dsg, I've had a 2016 octavia 1.4tsi dsg for 6 months, it has 52k on the clock. From what I've read this has a 7 speed dry clutch? I previously had a 2l diesel Leon with the 6 speed wet set up. I'm finding this gearbox much more jerky and slow in its changes, not sure if I'm imaginng things but it seems to have got more pronounced the past couple of weeks, changes down are also painfully slow. Is this normal with this 'Box? I was going to get a dsg service but apparently from reading on here I don't need to.....at a loss really

Not normal or as designed to behave.

You had best have an Automatic Gearbox specialist familiar with DQ200's check it out.

Maybe a reset / software update, maybe clutches, maybe anything.

Software update / Service Campaign 34H5 was on DQ200's from 2013-2015 so yours should not be included.

Unless they have now included them in Europe, because VW Group have recalls / service campaigns called in other world regions.

?

How is the 1.4 TSI.  has it had new spark plugs, a fresh air filter.   SERVICED CORRECTLY!

Could you stick in some E5 super unleaded 97 or 99 ron and see how it goes, if you are running 95 ron Unleaded E10.

It's still under an approved used warranty so I'll take it in, incidently I got a stop start error flash up a few days ago as well

If they put a Skoda Approved Warranty then as Skoda / Skoda Dealers know it should be serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines, recommendations or even schedule / spec.

They are quick enough picking up owners on that.

?

So were the spark plugs replaced with a record of that?  If not they should have done that before sale.

Brake Fluid as well changed.

Sauce for the goose and sauce for the gander type thing.   If the plugs are not replaced they can get on and do them, and bill themselves.

The garage sent me a screenshot of what it's had

My suggestion.  If you have a Tesco near try Momentum 99 rather.  Enough detergent in the oil. you want the Octane rather and stuff the Royal Dutch Shell and the mark up.

No sign of Spark Plugs there, not specific, as Inspection Service is that Oil & Inspection Service.

Interval Service.

Used Car Multi Point Check.   Nothing, look see and report done by Steve Wonder.

*Open the Air Filter box and see if nice and clean and fresh.*

My partner changed the air filter, it really wasn't clean.  I have a feeling the plugs haven't been done

If that was the USED CAR MULTI POINT CHECK done by them or they got the  car in after that that should include the sevicing is up to date if the Skoda Approved Dealership is putting on a Skoda Approved Warranty.

Ask the dealer principal if they want to rectify that and get plugs fitted while they have it so the  Master Tech road tests the car, checks for fault codes.

As far as I know it was done by them, I'll get it booked in, thanks for the advice 👍

  • 2 weeks later...

just an update on this; i have taken it to my local VAG garage whom i use regularly,

spark plugs are fried

misfire in cylinder one (needs coil pack)

Has NEVER had a major service

leaking shock also noted

Another issue of note was my rear wheel alignment is out, which i've never had on a car before, should i be concerned?

Booked in at main dealer who are kindly going to let me know what they will pay for under warranty.

  1. Not surprised, given the "service" history.
  2. It happens.
  3. There is no mention of anything more than "inspection" or "interval" services in the history. Why would you think there was more work done?
  4. Are VAG dampers made of chocolate these days!? ;)

Forget going to a Skoda main stealer for the alignment. Go somewhere with a Hunter rig and a proper reputation for using it right. Well, unless the stealer offers to do it for free.

@claire83

No idea why any claim under warranty.

The Skoda Approved Dealership that put a Skoda Approved Warranty on a Skoda Approved Used car sold a car not Serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines, Specification or Schedule.

They are the ones that should be paying for the car to have the Servicing done.
