Smokescreen??

Featured Replies

Just how much smoke is to be expected after REVO'ing???

Gave the car a good blat from 2nd up to 5th gear (up hill) and then up into 6th and eased off........plenty of black soot/smoke when accelerating, but when I eased off, it seemed to be more blue in colour.

Now...........to me, blue smoke spells trouble!! Going to set back to standard map tomorrow and try the same run.

How much extra smoke is "normal" for a Revo'ed Fabia??

Blue smoke is usually burning oil.

You need to get someone to drive behind you really just to check it's actually blue smoke and not just the light playing tricks.

Revo is quite an aggressive map (or used to be) so you will probably get plenty of smoke in the hot weather as the turbo spools up. My vRS smoked a fair bit in the hot weather as does my new found Golf which is completely standard.

I've followed quite a few diesels today, Ford, VW, etc.........they all seemed to be kicking out quite a bit of smoke when they put their foot (feet??) down............normal in this hot weather?

The Fabia is the first diesel car I've ever owned, so have no real benchmark.

Yep, it's quite normal for diesels to spew out more smoke than normal on a hot day, perhaps a tecchie could explain better....

I have REVO too and it does smoke a little more than normal in hot weather mine is more of white smoke though having said that im always looking infront lol but it is not a problem it quickley clears. When I switch to stock mode it still seems alot faster than before being Revo`ed do you find this too?

LOL.............don't know yet.

Will let you know after I've tried it in "stock" mode again.

Now mine DOES lay down a smokescreen.

aren't you singly responsible for smog-banks laying over L.A?:P

Its quite normal. I get much more smoke in this hot weather. (Standard 130) Dont worry about it

Your geography sucks mate - Its Exeter, not L.A :P

See this photo of mine shot near home. Its not fog, its just me taking off into town to grab a pint of milk!

Looks like you took the pic just after I went past.

Will be re-map + hot weather = More smoke.

In the warmer weather the air is less dense so there is less air/fuel mixture which will cause the diesel engine to smoke more..............atleast I'm sure that's right :o

That's good enough for me, that's the reason i'll believe, if that's not it then my cars knackered!

Wouldn't the ECU compensate for this air though, as the MAF will show a lower rate of air flowing into the engine and so the ECU will inject less fuel? Maybe under WOT, the car puts extra diesel in regardless of the MAF reading....?

Chris, Pass but then it's remapped so I dont know if that would make any difference as a remap will add more fuel to start with (wont it? ).

I wouldn't know either way as my car is how it left the factory. But I'm guessing it must have something to do with the heat, as mine's been a little smokey lately........but it's had better fuel consump.

I have no idea! :D One for the Techies to explain I think - better economy and more smoke

All I know is that my car is positively flying since the hot weather came!:rofl:

Chris

don't you love the magic?

gone in a cloud of smoke.

Chris

Sorry smoking on full charge not on normal driving........and I ment got MPG when cruising lol :o

Cant say I've noticed any drop in power in this hot weather.

Yeah, mine smokes like a bitch too - less dense air and the same amount of fuel = unburnt fuel.
