As title really...

 

Is there a knack to fitting new Front Wiper Blades, without scratching the edge of the bonnet with the Wiper Arm body?

 

Most cars I've had, you just lift the arm to it's erect position and it stays there... on my 2013 (63 plate) Mk3 SE Estate, I can only really lift the arm a couple of inches, before it hits the Bonnet edge!, I managed to get the old ones off, and fit the new ones, but it was a major Faff!!

Yep. You put the wipers in the service position. The manual states how to do this (I can’t remember off the top of my head).

Ah.. Haaaa... I've only had the car a year, and this is the first time I've needed to replace them, didn't realise it was such a faff... Never had a car that needed a 'Special Handshake' to change the Wiper Blades!! 😁

Wiper service position is also useful for when you put a cover (frost or sunscreen) on windshield. 

Also known as a 'winter park' position - last BMW and Mazda also had the same thing. Useful for making sure your wipers aren't already in the 'automatic' position when you turn the engine on and the windscreen wipers are frozen to the screen. The Skoda mechanism was the simplest - the BMW one was bizarrely complicated!
