Door witing harness

Featured Replies

I’ve just bought a new drivers side door wiring harness as 9 of the wires were broke, it’s installed but still nothing works, the drivers side door window works once then I have to unplug the harness from the car then plug it back in, then it works once and goes off again, no electric mirrors work and no passenger window, and the central locking button in the car doesn’t work, does this sound like the wrong harness or a bigger problem with the car thanks it’s a fabia 2012 1.6tdi 75hp version estate

These were the wires before I replaced the harness

Obviously options unused on your car, your problem is bigger than just the loom, the control module has probably been shorted out when the old loom failed so badly.

Check fuse 11, a 5 Amp one that may have blown and taken out mirror stuff if black/blue wire on pin 7 was busted and shorting to a brown one at any time.

Don't think that would explain the windows though.

Is it just the front windows that are leccy powered?

New loom from a dealer ?

Is it 100% the correct part no ?

I've been trying to ask him the same thing in a PM conversation.

It was new from Skoda apparently, but I haven't had any confirmation from him of what part number was supplied.

Catalogue says his original was 5J0971120GK, which was dropped in September 2013 and replaced by 5J0971120HG. Not sure what the problem is in saying what he has been supplied with?

Yeah just front windows, weird cos if I unplug the harness then plug it back it the drivers window works even without the key in until I start then turn the car off again then it stops working

Yes from Pullman Skoda and never checked the part number before I put the new harness in I’ll check at the weekend

I would like to think if you supplied your reg number the dealer got the correct part, unlikely it isn't.

My question was more pointed towards you potentially buying a loom from Ebay or similar assuming it would be the same.

Might be easier to just ask them what part number they sold to you, if you didn't keep the receipt?

Could also be worth checking that none of the pins of the male connector at the a-pillar have got bent during unplugging/reconnecting operations.

Phone camera may be able to get a pic where eyeballs struggle to be.
