I’ve had the car about 5 weeks and only realised yesterday that it has keyless entry 😂

No one at the dealers told me this when I picked the car up and so I’ve been locking and unlocking the car using the key fob buttons, which is what I’ve done with previous cars. But when I got home yesterday the car seemed to be playing up when I tried locking it - depressed fob, doors locked but then for some reason I double-checked the boot and found that it would still open. Assuming I’d not locked up properly I unlocked and locked it again . . . .repeat. Decided I’d leave the car as was and google the problem only to then realise that the keyless system was the ‘cause’ in so far as every time I touched the boot catch or door it would unlock. At this point the theme from the Muppets was playing loudly in my head and boy did Significant Other have a laugh.
Perhaps I should have read the handbook more thoroughly, but hey no harm done.

SO asked me today if there was any other buttons I’ve not found yet that’ll make the car fly 😏

Tell her there's a red button covered by the top of the gear lever that fires the passenger ejector seat... ;)

The boot will open if you have the key in your pocket.

Does your key have a motion sensor?  If so once the key has not moved for a short while it turns itself off thus protecting it from being read by a thief's scanner from outside the house.  If no key movement sensor then to disable Kessy lock the car with the key button and within 5 seconds touch the door sensor.  The car can only then be unlocked with the key button.

I think quite a few of us have been victims of "new tech" on modern cars.

For me it was the Virtual Pedal on the powered tailgate of my L&K Superb Estate which I bought second hand. I couldn't figure out why for no apparent reason the open tailgate would start beeping & closing on me while I was still fiddling around in the boot. A swift exit was needed before the tailgate came down on my back (probably wouldn't as it has a safety resistance sensor as far as I know).

Anyhow, after 3-4 times of doing this "early close" scenario it suddenly dawned on me that the car might have the Virtual Pedal option. I tested it on a closed tailgate by waving my foot under the bumper & hey presto open sesame.  Doh!!😖 It seems you have to be careful not to put your feet under the rear bumper while putting in or taking stuff out of the open boot.

To this day I don't know if the VP was standard fit or an option on my 2016 model.
