Fabia 1.2 BlueLine: Which coil spring? (for sports (lowered) suspension)

Featured Replies

I have a 09 reg Skoda Fabia 1.2 BlueLine (BZG 51kw 70hp - fabia 2 htp). I believe this is the car that comes with lowered suspension as standard.

Now, one of the front coil spring has snapped off from the top. I am looking to replace the coil spring (and probably suspension as well). After doing hours of research, I found the part numbers (via skoda-parts) that relate to my car but I am struggling to find aftermarket variant for coil spring.

The part numbers i found:

Coil Spring: 6Q0 411 105 AQ

Colour coding: 3x red, 2x yellow, for vehicles with a sports (lowered) chassis/suspension

Suspension: 6Q0 413 031 BL

Found plenty of aftermarket variant (from bilstein/sachs)

Does anyone have any details on spring dimensions that i should be using? the standard seems to be 350mm and does specify that it is for standard suspension. I have found local TPS and skoda-parts selling the correct part but they are £85 + VAT each. Where as the standard springs are from £10 each.

I am thinking if its better to just get standard suspension/spring combo and fit them in (not sure if this is even possible or need to consider other things) - the car is high mileage (130k).

Would appreciate your help on this!

@Carlston is very much the man for aftermarket equivalents and spring dimensions for a given Skoda part number. :)

Is it a hatchback or estate?

If it's a BZG engine, why are the CO2 emissions 140g/km?

According to wikipedia, the 1.2 petrol 12V 60HP/70HP engines have CO2 emissions of 128g/km, whereas the 1.2 petrol 6V 60HP engine has CO2 emissions of 140g/km.

There's a 2010 Fabia 1.2 12V petrol 70HP for sale on autotrader with registration BN60TTX and that has CO2 emissions of 128g/km, as shown on "check road tax", so the V5 would also show 128g/km. Maybe find out the OEM part numbers for the springs and shock absorbers on that car. Then assuming it's standard ride height, find aftermarket parts sold to replace those OEM part numbers.

as @toot linked, this is a special edition fabia that skoda made. I looked at v5 just now, it is listed as 70hp 140g/km BZG engine. From factrory these come with lowered suspensions. I found the official part from this website by providing my vin number. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/6q0411105aq-suspension-spring-front-axle-skoda-41771.html

Usually typing the part number in google, you get some answers for alternative aftermarket parts. But this time I got nothing. Even if i find dimensions, i can try find something. But seems like this is one off part for this model?

The reg is GY09EUJ - if it helps

Have you got a photo of the white build code label that's in the spare wheel well area under the carpet?

This would confirm the engine code.

Does it not just need Greenline II springs?

There is nothing Sport about the Lower Suspension on a Monte Carlo or vRS, they were just lower and the Dealer fit option were Eibach.

@Carlston he just wants aftermarket info for the springs for which he's given the original part number as 6Q0 411 105 AQ.

Why the third degree about engine and CO2?

@Carlston

Also got curious about the options codes. These were the codes for the suspension:

G04 = Front shock absorption
L26 = Suspension range 26 installation control only, no requirement forecast

Plugging that VIN in, you are correct with both spring and shock part numbers noted in your first post, as from the factory.

I am honestly surprised by how little options are out there. I want to try keep the lowered suspension as the car is a beaut to drive around bends. But logic says just to go standard shocks + standard springs, given the huge price difference between the sports and standard.

Part of me is also thinking to just get standard springs and compress them enough to fit the sports suspensions. But not sure if that is even possible or the safety aspect for that setup

?

Why are you changing the springs if they are good.

There are plenty lower springs that cost less the replacements for the OE ones.

No idea what you mean about compressing the springs to fit the sports suspension.

As it is the car has not got 'sports suspension'  that is Skoda spin.

@DpmPerformancemight be able to advise you on parts.

EDIT, i will get you the correct link.

I need to change it because my driver side coil spring has corroded from the top and a little bit has snapped off as well

@Carlstonusually has all the choices for all the cars, suspension, tyres etc etc.

Really there are lowering springs for MK2 Fabia out there to fit your car and not any great expense.  Ask the sellers of springs.

They just lowered it as they did with any 'Sport', Monte Carlo, or Greenline with a petrol engine and manual gearbox.

6Q0411105K might be a suitable alternative to 6Q0411105AQ, ie. a similar spring.

It's two weight ranges lower than 6Q0411105M which Kilen sell for the Fabia MK2 1.2TDI with lowered ride height. Now, the 1.2TDI engine is likely to be a little heavier than the 1.2 12V 51kW petrol engine, so two weight ranges lower should be about right.

A pair of Kilen 25110 front lowered ride height springs (which match 6Q0411105K) are available on ebay for £72.97 including shipping.

You might want to compare the below specification with your current 6Q0411105AQ front springs. The wire diameter of the current springs could be measured while still fitted to the car.

Sachs list the wire diameter of 6Q0411105K as 12.00mm which I suspect might be correct, rather than 12.25mm, because the 6Q0411105M spring is two weight ranges higher but also 12.25mm. Kilen don't list the specification of their springs but it's always worth taking measurements before fitting any new springs. If there's a discrepancy after fitting, perhaps the vehicle is too high or too low, you can then refer to your notes for further investigation.

Specification of 6Q0411105K (according to Optimal and others)

Length 306mm

Diameter 139mm

Number of coils 5.3

Weight 1.8kg

Wire Diameter 12.25mm (Sachs list the wire diameter as 12.00mm)

Actual photo of 6Q0411105K lowered ride height front spring (notice the approximately 5.3 coil turns)

Here's a selection of Fabia MK2 lowered ride height front springs that are shown in the Skoda parts catalogue. Notice that 6Q0411105K is two weight ranges lower than 6Q0411105M.

Can you find out the OEM part number of your rear springs?

This could be useful information to help further assess the suitability of the 6Q0411105K lowered ride height front springs.

Thank you so much! Going to see if I can pick it up along the way between manchester and crawley so I can sort it out over the weekend. The dimensions does seem to line up with how much the car is lowered so this is looking promising!

As for rear shock:

6Q0 513 025 AD

It is listed as "shock absorber for the rear axle, for the Fabia RS (sports suspension)"

As for the rear springs, nothing is coming up on skoda parts. Went through the list of springs and these 2 were labelled for sports/lowered suspension.

6Q0 511 115 AA

spring rear axle, intended for vehicles with a sports chassis, colour coding: 1x orange, 1x blue, 2x white

6Q0 511 115 AF

Coil spring for the rear shock absorber, genuine colour coding: 1x orange, 2x blue, 1x white, for vehicles with a sports (lowered) suspension.

We recommend that you verify the compatibility of this part with your vehicle's VIN.

@vohom001 your rear springs should be as per my previous post above yours.

There are four rear springs listed in the Skoda parts catalogue for the Fabia MK2 with lowered ride height. As you can see below, the 6Q0511115BB rear spring is the first one in the hierarchy with build code 0YA. The other three rear springs further up the hierarchy (which are likely to have a slightly longer uncompressed length and/or a thicker wire diameter) are likely to be for cars such as the estate version and/or tow bar versions.
