My engine noise is a bit raspy. Is this normal for a Citigo? It's a Skoda Citigo SE GreenTech.

Not sure how else to describe it. Recently driven a Susuki Swift and it was quiter and smooth in the cabin.

Mine is Kar Karr Kaarr... hoarse... lol..

Can I make it quiter? Does engine oil make it an issue?

The Suzuki Swift you drove might be a bigger car and have a a bigger / more powerful engine than the Citigo.

Which one did you drive?

Is the engine full of oil?

Heat shield loose?

Exhaust getting old?

Under bonnet sound absorbing mat can be fitted.

I can see you have quite a few mods to your car done! Where do you get them may i ask?

This is £50 it says in ebay. 1S0863831A for sale | eBay  Will it just straight fit Citigo even though it says VW up? do you source them somewhere cheaper?

I was told the susuki is a 1 L engine. Not sure how to upload my engine noise. Do you happen to have one from yours? I think yours is newer. Ours is 2013, 63 plate Greentech with stop/start.

Yes, see above.

Thanks!

Citigos/Ups are not "raspy", they are fairly quiet & muted. But at 5K+ rpm, they thrumm nicely.

You may have an exhaust leak somewhere, or something like a heat shield is resonating.

The underbonnet "soundproofing" is tiny, and probably a waste of money - most cabin noise is tyre-roar, wind-noise and some exhaust and mechanical noise (comes through the bulkhead). The bonnet thing may make the car quieter to anyone standing outside the car, over the bonnet area!
