Why are Mii wheels smaller?

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Been looking for a 2016 Citigo to replace my daughter's which unfortunately she wrote off. Not much suitable in our budget around so looking at a Mii. However, they seem to have 14 inch wheels instead of the 15 inch on the Citigo. What difference does this make, if any? Are they any more expensive to replace? How do they affect the ride?

Cheers.

As simple as Skoda / VW / SEAT doing either 14 or 15 " wheels on UP!MiiCitigo.

Different models / trims.

Look your self at Tyre Sellers, Blackcircles / Tesco / Asda tyres etc and see what the difference in prices are, the difference between Ooo & Aaaa really as in not much.

The ride will be just like in any Up!MiiCitigo and the traction / braking/ handling might depend very much on which tyres / brand you fit and how they are in the cold / wet / snow or warm sunny days.

All Season tyres in a suitable size might be 'simply clever'.

As a total generalisation 14" are more towards practicality and 15" more towards fashion.

On the Up/Mii/Citigo, if the car left the factory on 14" wheels it will have softer springs (about 5% softer) than the cars that left the factory on 15"/16" wheels.

That's why so many owners with 185/55R15 tyres complain about the hard ride, because not only do their 15" tyres give a harder ride than 14" tyres but the springs are harder.

165/70R14 and 175/65R14 are considerably cheaper tyre sizes than 185/55R15, as shown in the examples below.

Many thanks all. Just the kind of stuff I needed to know. I won't worry about 14" wheels now 👍
