What gearbox oil for a 2012 1.2 TSI fabia engine CBZB

Featured Replies

Hi

I was just wondering what gearbox oil should be used and if it is worth changing it. Skoda live chat said change every 60,000 a skoda garage I rang said it was a lifetime fluid.

I was just looking for views on if it is worth changing the gearbox oil and if so what oil to use and how much, i think this is 2.1 litres.

Many thanks

If it's a manual gearbox then it's filled for life but the manufacturers idea of the cars life is ten years or 100k.

At 60k I certainly wouldn't bother.

Many Thanks the car is about 10 years old and has nearly done 100k just wondered what the best oil to use is. I should have mentioned that it was manual.

Read your gearbox code off the build sticker on the boot floor. Same line as engine code, often.

I probably still wouldn't bother but I use 75/90 fully synthetic if I'm forced to replace due to leakage etc.

Thanks for your help the gearbox code is LMG.

The specified oil for that code is part number G 052 512 A2, superseded by G 055 512 A2,  £14.92 + VAT per litre from dealership.

Fill qty is stated as 2.1L but most people report that they are unable to get the full theoretical amount in when refilling, so I would quite confidently predict that 2 litres will be enough.
