Misfire 1.9 tdi between 1.5-2.5 plus a minor lump idle

Featured Replies

Hi all

As title. I've changed the injector loom, this seemed to sort it for a moment (I also cleaned the throttle body and as much of the inlet as I could get to without taking it off).

The only error codes I have in VCDS are glow plugs, and I've been advised they aren't required so I ignore this.

The EML has never displayed, not even a flash (it does work).

Mileage 153k, serviced every 6-8k miles (half yearly).

I'm also getting a small lumpy idle, but it's not too bad, but when the misfire stopped, the lump idle did too.

I'm not ruling out turbo vanes, but given it's on idle aswell? What do we think?

Not scared of taking stuff off to clean. I plan to get the inlet off to clean soon, could also pull the turbo off and check operation while I'm at it.

Cheers

Run a bottle of injector cleaner through at double strength dose i.e. with half a tank of BP Ultimate diesel.

You'll feel your car transformed from something old and agricultural to a more refined, responsive and enjoyable experience.

I don't believe in this stuff, if there was an injector issue it'd come up on VCDS.

Show a little trust from another 1.9 PD owner speaking from experience.

A dirty injector won't show on a scan until the car drives like a bucking bronco at which point it'll show as a cylinder misfire.

You see for yourself that the previous injector loom which was likely just loose wasn't causing enough of a problem to show on a scan.
