Running rough

Featured Replies

I have a 1.4 mk1 that doesnt idle right. Low and cuts out, fault code for maf sensor. I dont have a maf sensor. Any ideas that could help please?

Have you checked your air filter and housing are clean and clear, any air pipes/hoses cracked/loose/disconnected, condition of spark plugs, what's the service and maintenance history.

If you have a generic code reader the code might be a red herring.

Checked electric connections for battery supply and to sensors.

That's me out of quick ideas.

In particular, check the plastic brake servo pipe for splitting at the end connectors and non-return valve.

Example...

I have checked and fault code came up as maf sensor. I only have a map sensor so im going to try that, everything from pipes and wiring are all good.

TMB where is this located? Thanks for your replys

@TMB may have a photo as he has a very similar engine, but if you trace the black plastic pipe back from the brake servo (big black round thing on back wall of engine bay) you'll come across a one-way valve that will resemble the one pictured, to some extent.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo, but yeah, just follow it from the servo.
