Incoming phone call ringer is to low, how to increase volume?

Featured Replies

I have read the manual both for the car and the Columbus radio and I can't see any way of actually adjusting the volume setting for incoming calls, they are barely audible only noticed because the radio mutes but it also does this when driving over or under high voltage cables, meaning that in order to determine which has caused the radio being muted, is to look at the display and see if it says incoming call. This surely cannot be right, so how do I set the level of incoming ring tones etc. Once I have accepted the call, volume can be adjusted with ease, but I have to be able to know that a call is coming in first?

Normally, when you have an incoming call you can use the volume control to turn the volume up or down before you answer call.

And will it then remember this setting for any subsequent calls, or do you have to do it every time? On the mk2 I never had to do that, there was a setting in the menu to set incoming call volumes.

It does but easy enough to test at home with prank calls and ignition recycling

Yes, I did that and it seems to be working OK. I thought that it might also turn the radio volume up as well but it doesn't, its a strange way of doing it compared to the mk2.

The volume control seems to work on whichever sound is active at the time.

So, if your radio is the only sound source then the volume affects the radio. If the call ringer is active then the volume affects the call ringer. If your reversing warning is on then the volume affects that and so on.

It's kind of intuitive when you realise but not when you are looking for a specific setting to do this !

This also caught me out when I must have turned down the volume on Waze warnings and instructions, and took quite a while to realise and reset the volume so I could hear 🤫
