Key Oddities....

Featured Replies

There's something weird going on with my key (std key, non folding)...

To set the scene:

Last Saturday the "blipper" part of the key stopped working. I could lock/unlock the car OK manually, and start the engine OK. The red LED on the key was flashing for about 30 secs then stopped.

Tried the spare key, fine. So a dead battery I thought.

Swapped the battery over, all worked fine...

...For two days... Last night, unlocked the car OK, got to destination, tried to lock using the "blipper", no joy. Again I could lock the car manually, and start it etc.

This time, the LED kept flashing - and was still going this morning...

Have opened the key, which has seemed to reset the flashing, and the "blipper" is now working again. Though I don't hold out much hope for it lasting...:(

Has anyone seen this before? Any thoughts or suggestions before I call the Stealer??

Cheers,

Hewesy

Isn't continuous flashing of the LED an indication to you that the battery voltage is low and needs replacing?

Well it's now given up completely - remote locking wise.

Can unlock/lock and start with the key still, but no LED light up when attempting to use the remote locking.

Is the key covered by warranty? Before I contact the Dealer...

All sorted - dealer blamed a duff battery.

We'll see how it goes...

Good service though.
