both keys were working fine although car said battery was low in one key.

 

Changed the battery which unlocked the car but would not lock it. Tried to sync the key by pressing button on the fob then using key quickly to unlock the vehicle, all that then happened was the alarm went off and car said key not recognised.

 

Tried spare key which worked fine yesterday, exactly the same result. Help!

Panic over despite me using batteries in the fobs that said expired in another 3 years I bought some new ones and was then able to sync the keys!

I've always aimed to play safe and only ever buy Panasonic batteries, like VW Group seem to do, if you are careful/lucky, you can buy them online quite cheaply - if time allows.
