Thinking of buying and looking for info.

With the digital servicing being offline to car owners, I always recommend that get full printout when you go in to pay and pickup the car from a service.

In 12 months time, you won't remember what was and wasn't done this time, which you might need if an Independent does it.  Might not even remember if next time is major or minor service when booking it in.

Which is exactly why I raised this point.

I will, when it comes to service time request a printed record but I would really like to be able to find the actual Service Schedule for each year so I know what to expect.

I feel this is an important piece of information for the owner.

Example being that (so I have read) the DSG auto box needs particular attention in certain year cycles and I would like to be aware of when.

I would have thought there should be some place online that an owner could access for this type of information.

Sorry but you read wrong as that is not the DQ200 DSG your car has.

So do not get conned or mis-informed into having your DSG serviced.

There is only plenty, and i or someone else can show you if you can not use a search engine.

The DQ200 DSG gearbox used in Fabia is theoretically maintenance free for life, and has no servicing.

Skoda do produce a servicing schedule which covers annual schedule based on 10,000 miles.   But it doesn't say what is due by time and what is due by mileage so is fairly useless if your mileage is lot lower than 10,000 per year

Thank you for that information.

Very helpful but muddies the waters even more.

There is nothing in my documentation that tells me if the gearbox is DQ200, which needs no maintenance, but the chart you have attached has that DQ200 as 7 speed.

Mine is 6 speed so would more likely be the DQ250 or DQ400, which do need oil changes at 4 and 8 years.

How can I find out which it is?

THIS is the sort of information that used to be available in the owners handbooks that I am used to and should be freely available.

Really, a 1.0 TSI with a 6 speed DSG.   Best go look at your car again i think.

Has the gear indicator never shown '7'.

As it is the DQ250 is not at 4 years & 8 unless that is a car doing 10,000 miles each year, it is at 40,000 miles & 80,000 miles.

the DQ381 is at 80,000 miles.

The DQ400 is fitted to PHEV,s and is 6 speed.

1.4 TSI,s until they start them with a 1.5 TSI in a Skoda.

*His obvious mistake which i posted in the comments is how are they all 1.0 litre when he says there are 150 ps 1.5 TSI,s.*

Once again, I bow to your greater knowledge, sir.

There is NO mention at all in my car documentation or specification sheet of which gearbox it is other than DSG.

As I have only had it for a day and a half and not even been out of town yet I have only seen the gear indicator go up to 6 and I was told by the dealer that it was a 6 speed box!

Just been doing a more comprehensive online search and am very pleased to see that you are quite right.

Saves me a bit of concern over servicing and look forward to a trip out tomorrow to actually see if that indicator goes up to 7.

THIS is exactly why I love user forums.

Thank you again.

DQ200 DSG if under 192 PS / 250 Nm & FWD not AWD with VW Engines, 150 ps with Skoda.

DQ200-e with mild hybrids.

Never be surprised how little car sales staff or the service desk staff know about the products they sell or work with 5 1/2 or 6 days a week.

They are not employed because they are enthusiasts and even get as a perk to drive the cars and yet know very little.

Had a better trip out today.

Only 30-ish miles but a decent mix of A road and Motorway gave me a reasonable overview of performance and comfort levels.

No problem getting gear 7 on this run. (thank you toot) and could certainly notice a difference between D and S modes. Not sure what it means to MPG, whether S mode is less frugal or not.

All told, a very smooth and comfortable ride.

I reckon we are going to get on very well.

S mode will hold the gears more, and not change up gears as quickly, it will use bit more fuel, but of course you will ease off accelerator and coast earlier otherwise would soon be doing 100+ mph

Ultimately basic physics will determine fuel consumption, energy used to move a mass, and convert energy in the fuel into kinetic energy etc.

Yes.

Finding my feet today and getting into a habit of setting off in S then once up to speed knocking it back to D.

The actions of making these changes are just so easy and intuitive.

Nice touch of user friendly design, methinks.

'S' for crawling along in walking pace traffic as well.  Then come winter and slippy roads or snow on roads at slow speeds in town you can stay off the brake pedal pretty much and as you want to slow just move from D back to S and then into D to move off and reduce any wheel spin / slippage.

Nice one to remember. Thanks.

Thank you but I won't sign up for something that has to be paid for without knowing how much ..... maybe I'm just old-fashioned?

€7.00 per hour.

I doubt this site would be any use for your needs though.🤔

Thanks. AG Falco
