Rear suspension parts

Featured Replies

I've got a skoda superb estate 2016 2.0tdi with 148k miles on the clock.

The rear suspension is now very jumpy and thinking of replacing the springs and shocks.

Ive bought some 12.5mm springs, which will hopefully help with a low rear ride height and to carry a bit more weight.

The shocks are currently 3Q0 512 011HD so thinking of replacing them with bilstein b4 19-232363 or sachs 318 02, but I am wondering if I need something else if the ride height is slightly increased?

IS it worth replacing any other components whist the work is being done?

The bump stops will be shot and the top mounts a good idea.

What 12.5mm springs have you purchased?

Do you mean Bilstein B4 19-232362 ?

Do you mean Sachs 318 202 ?

Yes I did mean the

Bilstein B4 19-232362 or

Sachs 318 202

The springs I have bought are

KYB RA5331

KYB RA5331 is sold to replace only OEM part number 3Q0511115AL so should be an exact match.

Although 3Q0511115AL is a little stiffer than 3Q0511115AK, it's still a standard ride height rear spring.

As you can see in the chart below, both 3Q0513049FN and 3Q0513049FP are listed as standard ride height rear shock absorbers for the Superb MK3 front wheel drive. Searching for both of these two OEM part numbers should help to find suitable aftermarket rear shock absorbers. Sachs 318202 is listed against both of these OEM part numbers, so should be a good choice.

Bilstein B4 19-232362 is not listed against either 3Q0513049FN or 3Q0513049FP.

Superb MK3 front wheel drive rear shock absorbers (1JA = standard ride height)

  3Q0513049FP Rear shock absorber     1JA
  3Q0513049FN Rear shock absorber     1JA

The gknautomotive, Kilen/Lesjofors, and KYB online spring catalogues all list 3Q0511115AK as being suitable for the Superb MK3 estate 2.0TDI front wheel drive, so going up one in the weight range to 3Q0511115AL seems a sensible choice if the standard rear springs are a little on the soft side. However, it's always worth checking what the standard springs are, as they won't always be exactly the same as what's listed in the various online spring catalogues.

Interesting,

My 2.0 tai 190 has very soft rear springs when loaded it’s not good. Just checked and label on the springs is jq0511115 AJ, coil 11.8mm in diameter , so weight 2. So no wonder it’s soggy. It’s a 2021 with 21k, so thanks for your info and I will be getting some AL springs. ie + 10%. Ian
