Tyres very unevenly worn... can anyone help identifying this?

Featured Replies

I noticed one of my tyres was flat, and then when pumping it up noticed that the metal was coming through on the inside edge, even though the middle and outer looked fine. Then I saw a similar wear pattern on the other tyre, and that my damper covers looked eff'ed up. Are these related?

Thanks,

Ed

I have exactly the same on mine on the fronts. Strangely the winter wheels/tyre sets don't do it, they wear very evenly.

Has it always done so, and have you had it checked out?

This would be a one off to have happened, but the only time I saw this sort of wear on a front tyre the car had a failed front lower ball joint. So I'd suggest checking both front lower ball joints.

Cool, thanks, seems like it's probably that. I saw that mentioned somewhere else as well when looking for causes.

Good username, btw 😂

Pretty sur my ball joints are ok- never been mentioned when mot'd and they are pretty thorough.

Yes always don it and I did have the local garage check and adjust tracking. remained the same. It just doesn't do it with the winter set of tyres and tracking was done with it on the summer set..

Get your rear alignment checked as probably worn rear toe bushes
