Thankyou to Bickertons (Sheffield) and to Skoda UK

Featured Replies

OK, summary of my previous threads of my recent problems.

Although I have suffered alot of stress recently due to my car breaking, I can nowhappily report it is all over.

first, my car will arrive back at my house any time now all fixed and well.

I would like to thank Bickertons (sheffield) and Skoda UK for their actions. It was repaired under warrenty without quibble. although this took a week, I understand the complications as to why. during that week I lost alot of business, as previously stated in other threads. I would be very unhappy about this, as it could have put me under as a private (alone) driving instructor. However, after communicationg my problems with Skoda UK, they have agreed to compensate me for my losses. This is a very important point in my recent problems. This will allow me to put up advertising to try and plug the hole that was created in my business due to my car breaking (which lets not forget, a 14 moth old car, with 38k, which gets driven pedestrianly at 30mph for most of its life, shouldn't happen!)

So I'm going to stop whinging about my problems now, as I think Skoda UK have lived up to their reputation of being in second place for customer satisfaction, and have looked after me. I will be buying a new model fabia vRS when they are released next year!

Thank you to all the members on here who have offered words of support during my stressed out rants (especially Awsome Sarah, for her advice too)

note: bickertons have a link to briskoda on their site! cool....

Glad to here that they have been good with you, havent been upto Bickerton yet but hope i get the same service when i do

Glad it all ended well for you

Sharkrider, I also give Bickertons a big thumbs  up for their service. I turned up there this morning and without pre-booking they fixed my broken washer jets and cleaned my car within an hour!

my car is in at bickertons next week to sort some minor problems out.

i'm glad I have taken it there as from other people on here they have no bad word to say.

Glad you got your car sorted sharky!

Thats going above and beyond what you have any right to expect from Skoda (or any other manufacturer) so they deserve recognition for that.

As for the car breaking in the first place , no manufacturer will be completely free of faults , no matter how well made or you wouldn't need a warranty.

Also don't forget that stop-start town driving does put more strain on the car than cruising on a motorway and learner drivers aren't generally known for their mechanical sympathy.

Brilliant result, and brilliant service to boot.

Nice one Bickertons.

I disagree. i DO have the right to expect a new car to perform as advertised, and not break down. I also understand they sometimes will no matter what, and I never suggested differently. And I DID give Skoda (and bickertons) all the credit it deserves for the sertvice and compensation issue.

and of course I know town driving puts more strain on a car than motorway (doh!), but my cars driving life is not just stop start, and even if it is, shouldn't be an excuse for a breakdown at 38k! I would expect a new car to last until the end of its warrenty, as I would my TV. also you are wrong about the learners. I teach my learners mechanical sympathy, and can tell you for a FACT that they all drive with more mechanical sympathy than most 'normal' people, i.e. my parents, my friends, and a million other people I've been in cars with! if they are taught correctly, they will not hammer the clutch and gearbox, my clutch still feels as new, and people on here have had them slipping before 38k!

I've never had anything other than terrific service from Bickerton's.

They've even got Briskoda bookmarked on their cutomer internet access int waiting area.

good result sharkrider  , just a thought though , i know you said the clutch still feels new i may have had the mechanics check it whilst the gearbox was out and if required allow them to change it , that way you wouldn't have to pay the labour on clutch renewal , it will be sods law that it will go in the next month (i dont wish it on you though) but lets hope it lasts till you get a new car

lol... yeah, sods law... hope my run of bad luck is over though, and no-one else has the same problems I did!

Think you are very lucky that it was a Skoda TBH cos I am sure somewhere in the small print of any warrenty will be the disclaimer that they can't be held responsible for any consequential loss either directly or indirectly caused by ............. so massive  to Skoda customer services.

oh I agree, they did this soley out of good customer service, probably why they made it to number two ;) (who was first? lexus?)

Hi Sharky

Another good reason for more instructors to buy Fabias. Glad to see you back on the road. Dont know if it will elp with instruction, but when I launched my domestic PC supply business in 1998, any time I was not working, I was out stuffing leaflets through doors. I had 2000 printed and that made me enough leads to trade solely on recommendation. Could be worth a punt.
