If you thought that the paint on you new car is clean..

Featured Replies

I took delivery of my Octy on friday afternoon. Closer inspection showed small rust spots on the paint, especially on the rear. Treated surfaces with Autoglym Magma iron remover, and I must admit that I was more than slightly annoyed when the spots started to bleed. Anyway the Magma did the job and I got rid of the crud..

Hello Mikke, that is a very disappointing pre-delivery inspection.

I don't think it's rust from the car panels. It's probably rust from the iron fallout. As the car was shipped by rail, you'll get iron fallout. It's the same type of fallout seen on wheels from brake disk iron fallout.

However, I'd be surprised if the dealer had the time to properly decontaminate the car prior to delivery with claying and fallout remover......

My thoughts exactly. Must be transport by train to the port what has caused the contamination. I asked the dealer about it but they shrugged and said "it could be anything - who knows". Their loss, they lost my future businesses with them..

Very disappointing indeed. Some dealers will short cut on pre-delivery, but it's pretty extreme to hand over a brand new car in that condition, just no excuse. Glad you got rid of the problem - and the dealer...
