I passed my test a couple of days ago and am going to look at a 2011 Skoda Fabia on Sunday. I have no experience with cars and don't know what I should be looking out for so would anyone be able to give me any tips/advice on the car and anything I should be particularly wary of?

 

I will have an experienced driver with me to test drive it as I'm not confident enough to do so, so is there anything I should be passing onto them with regards to the drive etc?

 

Sorry if this all sounds a bit dumb but I don't want to go in blind and thought this would be the best place to get advice and gain some knowledge.

What model / trim of Mk2 Fabia is it.

What engine size, & petrol / TSI or something else, or diesel and a TDI, 1.2 or 1.6?

What gearbox. Manual or DSG?

 

Is there much in the way of servicing history with the car? 

How do the past MOT,s and the most recent look and any advisories?

I done an advanced check on vehicle smart and everything looks ok on that. There were photos of the logbooks until 2018 on the advert but these have been removed. Where would I find details on the MOTs, would I just ask to see these when I look at the car tomorrow?

it's all pretty alien to me which is why I thought this would be a good place for advice.

A pretty basic car then trim and power wise and maybe a good buy.

Some of the members with one of these or that have had them can comment. 

 

Go on condition, are the tyres matching and with a good enough tread, spare wheel there and tools.

(Spare wheels might not have been standard with them.)

 

Maybe a mod moving your post to the Mk2 Fabia section would be an idea.

Checked the MOT history but will have someone else look over it, as again, alien to me.

I have flagged it for a mod to move it.   3 dots up on the right have Report, edit etc.  Hopefully all is well with the car and it suits your need.

In the top post, click the ellipsis (...) top right, select "Report", and when that screen opens select "thread in wrong forum" add a narrative of "please move my thread to Fabia 2 forum", and OK.
