Cup Holder spring tab pushed through!

Featured Replies

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me.
My daughter managed to push one of the spring tabs in the cup holder right through and there’s just a whole there now (2021 Octavia). Has anyone managed to fix this issue?  I’m hoping I won’t need to remove the whole centre console to get to it.
please help if you can!?!

Did you end up working it out? One of my tabs has fallen in too.

Unfortunately not! It’s pretty clear on closer inspection that the whole centre console will need to be taken out. Maybe one day if I can work out how!

This has happened to one of my tabs too. The dealer said it wouldn't be fixed under warranty as it had been misused?!

Anyway, they said I could pay to have it repaired but the whole console would have to come out and it would be cost prohibitive.

It appears to be a common problem and 3 are still working so I'll live with it.

Thanks Mark, Thought as much. It’s a pretty poor design for sure. Might have a go myself sometime but will probably just learn to live with it!

I noticed this today, luckily it was the front right side one. I popped up the gear selector housing by sliding in 2 trim tools, first one at the front, then eased them around the sides, it just popped up off the clips, I undid a couple of wires underneath and then managed to reach in from the underside, just had to pop the tab back through and the springing mechanism followed. Not sure it would be quite as easy with tabs further back though.

Hi James,

Glad you got yours sorted. Unfortunately mine is the left side front so won’t be able to reach it with that method. Good to know if it happens again though.

I’ve learned to live with mine.

Thanks for replying

You can try to remove the side like on in this post described. The next trim should also be removable. Maybe you will get there.
