Roof bars

Featured Replies

Hi all,

The OH has a Superb hatch mk3 (2019) and I am trying to get my head around the different roof bars so I can fit bikes to the roof - can someone help please?  I dont have rails or slides on the roof to attach bars too, however when opening all four doors I have a pair of screw holes about 4 inches apart - I assume I can attach bars here?

Once bars have been fitted does anyone have recommendations on the types of bike racks?

Pics would also be good.

Thanks in advance.

They're not screw holes, they're there for the locating pins.

Skoda original bars have two pins per each side of the bar, Thule has just the one.

This post/thread will help.

Can't help you on the bike rack bit though :)

Thule aero bars are the way forward as they look nice and the quick detach is a nice feature.

for the carrier, I used to use the Thule (591 I think??) and for a 29er mountain bike it made getting it on and off the car a doddle even with the size of it!

i have a hatch/liftback/sedan/limo Superb myself and use roof racks occasionally (during school holidays).

i don't have pics of the actual mounting kit, but yes, those holes u indicated, 2x per door frame, is where the mounting kit hooks into, which the roof racks are attached too.

i'm using Pro-rack roof bars, with 3x bike racks fitted on to it.

easy to fit & use, and just as easy to remove.

my only complaint is that i wish i got the aero version of the roof bars as these ones r noisy at speeds.

I fear the bikes are main contributors to the noise you're complaining about way before roof bars. Unless you were talking about roof bars alone (unloaded)... 🤔

Am talking about without the bikes on.

I don't have aero bars, so it's expected to b noisy.
