1.9 TDI A/C isn't working

Featured Replies

Hello guys!

2008 Roomster 1.9 TDI BSW, 245xxx km on the clock.

The A/C system is fully recharged !!!

At the beginning of the week suddenly A/C condenser fan stoped to spin when the a/c is turned on, compressor was working properly.

Somehow it fixed itself and in the following days everything just worked normally.

Started the a/c today and it blows hot air. The compressor isn't engaging and the fan isn't spinning.

Replaced the a/c compressor valve and still not working. The old compressor valve looks very clean, no debris at all.

Checked the negative wire that goes to the valve and its ok.

Check the positive wire and it delivers only 10.2 volts to the valve. Is that normal?

My mechanic said it's and bad compressor but I still think it has some electrical issue.

The compressor is permanently engaged and spins all the time so your mechanic might be a bit mental.

If it's blowing hot air it sounds like the temperature flap is stuck, try cycling from full hot to full cold whilst running the fan full blast, you should be able to tell if the flaps moving or not.

What do you mean by "replaced compressor valve"?

If you mean the one on the compressor (the modulating valve) then you will need a regas afterwards, if you mean the pressure switch or transducer these can be replaced without losing system pressure, they have a schrader valve core underneath them which they open when screwed in.
