Oil Change or Service

Featured Replies

Terrible trouble getting any sense out of two dealers I have called (or at least their ‘centralised’ call centres). Hoping you all have worked this out and can enlighten me…

Car new 31st Dec 2021

1st / last service inspection 31st Jan 2023. Mileage 10,273

Purchased by me April 2023, c. 11k

Todays mileage 18,289

Oil change due 400 miles

Inspection due 1700 / 121 days

Do I have to bite the bullet and get both oil and service done now (and reset the variable clock)? Is there such thing as just a dealer oil change and have the service in a few more weeks time? My mileage will not be as significant as it has been since April between now and the end of the year. Thanks

Is your car set on FIXED SERVICING?

Then you want the Oil changed and then reset to Variable / Flexible servicing Regime if you want.  Be sure they have INSPECTION matching the OIl Service.

To keep to the Service History showing correctly you can not just reset the 'Service Interval, but some places do because their error,

if it was your error they would say they can not do that.

.............

There only is Oil & Inspection Services either @ 12 months / 9,400 miles or @ 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles, variable / flexible service regime.

(Extended Scope @ 3 years then each 2..)

There is no 'INSPECTION', that is an oddity that come up and is not Reset properly.

?

How much are any Dealership Quoting for an 'INSPECTION SERVICE'. ?

Have your Oil & Inspection Services Annually if it is a PHEV iV because that is what the Service Regime is on them. (1.4 TSI PHEV)

As to the other cars / engines they are Fixed or Variable services / OIL CHANGES, depending what you want.

PS

Since SKODA UK will often say there is no record of an INSPECTION and report for Paint & Corrosion Warranty and yet show Body Inspection as part of the Servicing Regime but do not have it on the Work Shop check sheet.

Be sure to ask if they are doing the Body Inspection for the Corrosion Warranty and putting that on the System.

That is not at an additional cost.

There were Dealerships that said that was £100 & £100 plus for those that do not have Main Dealer Servicing.

They were taking the P!th.

You pay a premium for Main Dealer Servicing and giving them an Up-selling opportunity so really they should do work.

Get the wheels off, rotate them if you want while they are off, do a road test etc etc.

Not just take money for a look see and tick a list.
