Karoq wheelarch sealant issue

Featured Replies

So I've been looking at used Karoqs for a couple on months now, having owned one in the past and needing a newer car for the family.

The example that has my attention at the moment is great, but I noticed when inspecting at the dealer the RHR wheelarch sealant is a bit odd. Looks as though it has been applied roughly at the factory then trimmed back, but leaving an open edge to the paint system. The sealant also protrudes a millimetre or so out from under the arch, as though the bead was flattened on application.

Hard to see in the photo, but that pic is taken looking upward under the arch lip. It's the forward corner of the arch dead adjacent to where the rear door closes against the body. There are no other signs of a repair having been done.

Does this look odd or suspicious to anybody else, or do others see the same on their cars? Perhaps this is the norm from the factory?

Obviously the paint needs touching up again, but I'm concerned this might be a weak point in a dirty area, or may need further paint repair to make it right. The car is decent money on the forecourt too, not a cheaper end example.

Thanks for any feedback.

Simon
