Phone not charging from cigarette lighter or USB port...

Featured Replies

Any thoughts? I drive across France and started to notice the phone I keep continuously charging wasn't actually charging, or only slowly...

Did you have any other devices plugged in?

No... In the car park when I tried it yesterday it warned me my "12v battery is low - start engine or switch off Infotainment System"

Check your battery level when the engine is running. How old is the battery?

Do you have a code reader?

Your profile says your car is 2002. Correct?

Oh, that's my old Skoda. Will change.

I think the battery may be as old as the car (2015). Maybe I need a new one...

Looks like either your battery isn't holding charge, you've got a load not turning off (no coolbox in the boot?) or the alternator isn't charging , which makes the BMS turn off loads such as the 12V sockets.

Check the battery voltage with the engine running, if that's OK then the battery is your problem - not surprising if it's 8 years old.

Many thanks, everyone. Will check when I get back to the car.
