is there a hose connecting brake servo and intake manifold on the 2.0tsi vrs?

Featured Replies

Car has had full waterpump / thermostat replacement, involving intake manifold removal and replacement for access, and very shortly coming out of workshop is displaying a brake servo error and seems to have impaired brake function / unassisted brake function. My understanding is that one of the many hoses etc that have to be disconnected / disturbed when disassembling for the water pump job is a hose that connects intake manifold to brake servo, so it would appear something of this sort has been damaged during the waterpump replacement and is impeding braking.  Can anybody confirm this logic please? Thanks.

That sounds very likely - was the brake servo working correctly before the job?

Late now, and an early start in the morning - but I will take a look at my 1.4 booster setup tomorrow. If a vacuum line is off, engine should run like cr*p too.

Follow the servo hose back from the servo, looking for any unconnected bits...

Cheers. All fine beforehand. No problems at all. They've taken back to sort foc even though they believe it was highly likely not caused by them. They do now say say they think there is something wrong with the servo to intake manifold hose or possibly the sensor but I don't think it can be a failed sensor alone as the braking is totally buggered so the servo is clearly having an actual problem trying to do its job.

A fault should have been logged. Would that show the time and date?

Yep; best idea if they caused it, they fix it. Please let us know what is found.

Hows the engine running?

If the timing was so far out it was producing next to no manifold vaccum, but you would notice the engine running awfully first.
